Following on from the successful sale of all 1,000 units in Saganaki – the first thoroughbred in the miRunners stable – miRunners will now look to Melbourne after one of Australia’s best trainers confirmed his involvement as trainer of their second horse.
Caulfield-based Mick Price will come on board to train the second horse with miRunners planning to make the purchase at the upcoming Magic Millions sales on the Gold Coast.
This is exciting news. With Kris Lees training Saganaki, Price’s appointment continues miRunners’ commitment to provide all Australians with the opportunity to own a premium racehorse, trained by one of Australia’s leading trainers.

The key to this model is making it affordable, easy to buy online, and to have access to weekly communications between trainer and unit holders.
Price gained his licence in 1992 and has established himself as one of the best in the industry with consistently impressive results:
- Price has won over $85 million dollars in prize money since 2000
- In more than 11,000 starts, Price has a win rate of 17% and a place rate of 42%
- There are 33 Group 1 wins amongst Price’s win total of 1,989
The miRunners Model
A premium racehorse is purchased with the purchase price split into 1,000 units and made available for purchase to the public. For example, Saganaki was purchased for $165,000 with units available for $165 plus a monthly fee of $15 (to cover training, admin, vets, transport, insurance, communications costs etc). The public and owners were then heavily involved, invited to choose the horse’s name and design the racing silks.
What next?
The miRunners model proved Australia is desperate for affordable entry into premium thoroughbred ownership. miRunners is now planning the purchase of its next thoroughbred, expected to be at January’s Magic Millions sales on the Gold Coast.

Those interested in owning a unit in the Mick Price-trained horse are able to purchase one of 1,000 Priority Access Vouchers for $15 each by clicking here.
Once the horse has been purchased by miRunners, there will be a priority access window where only holders of a Priority Access Voucher are able to buy a unit in the horse.
Being a voucher holder guarantees you the opportunity to purchase a unit. If all 1,000 units are sold during the priority window, no units will be made available to non-voucher holders.
To reward the early commitment of voucher holders, training & management fees for the first two months ($30 in total) will be waived.
A new type of journey to experience
Owners of Saganaki will be very familiar with the exciting journey of watching your yearling grow older, bigger, faster and stronger. Having the opportunity to meet the horse when it was young, and keeping up to date with the weekly video updates from the stables and trainer, made the journey to race day so much more special.
For the next miRunners horse, there is going to be a new kind of journey to experience: the buyer’s journey. If you purchase a Priority Access Voucher, you will be kept up to date in every step of the purchasing journey.
You’ll receive updates from our chief scout, an insider’s view to our thinking behind yearling purchases and an invitation to be there live at the Magic Millions auction. If you cannot make the action in person, we will provide a live stream. All of this is exclusive to Priority Access Voucher holders.
