Cobar is enjoying a well-earned break
Our 2YO gelding, Cobar, is currently enjoying a well-earned break at Hayfields Racing’s spelling farm. As you can see, he is looking absolutely fantastic and is a happy, healthy horse – which is exactly what we love to see.
Following a solid last preparation, Cobar began to feel the effects of his campaign, so the team made the decision to give him a six-week spell.
Here’s a quick video update to show how well he is thriving – continuing to grow and mature, and looking the picture of health during his time in the paddock.
We are looking forward to seeing him back in action soon.
Peter Snowden thrilled with Pippy’s orientation
Pippy, our exciting Farnan filly, has made a brilliant start to her career, impressing throughout her early education at the breakers and showing all the right signs from day one.
Last week, she took the next step where she enjoyed a week of orientation at Randwick at Snowden Racing. It did not take long for Pippy to make an impression.
She approached every new experience with confidence and maturity well beyond her age, adapting seamlessly to her surroundings and taking everything in her stride. From track work and stable routines to the busy atmosphere of a leading Group 1 operation, she handled it all like a natural.
Peter Snowden has been particularly pleased with her attitude and willingness – qualities that are often the foundation of a very good racehorse. You can hear more from him in the video above.
With such an encouraging start, there is every reason to be optimistic about what lies ahead.

Diesel is set for his first ride under saddle
Diesel (Better Than Ready x Futureal, yearling colt) has now commenced his breaking in stage at Newington Farm following his purchase at the Magic Millions March Sale. As you will hear in the update above, he is a happy, healthy horse who has passed the first stage of breaking in with flying colours!
This early stage includes teaching them to stop, go-forward, turn left and right and get used to having a girth on as well as a bit and bridle. As you can hear in the update above, the team at Newington Farm are absolutely thrilled with his progress so far – he has taken it all in his stride with no issues and he will commence ridden work next week!

They Call Me Fred is in the midst of pre-training

Our 2YO Pierata gelding is progressing well at Emeran Park, where he is currently undertaking pre-training ahead of his return to Bjorn Baker Racing at Warwick Farm.
With his fitness now at a solid level, he will commence work under saddle next week as he continues to build towards his next preparation.
After two starts as a 2YO – Don Valiente is off for a spell
Don Valiente (Pinatubo (IRE)) has now had two race starts as a 2YO for Michael Freedman, including an encouraging third-place finish on debut.
At his most recent run at Warwick Farm, he again performed solidly before the team made the decision to send him for a spell. He has shown good ability and is handling the pressures of racing well, however, being forced to lead at just his second start proved a valuable learning experience and perhaps left him a little vulnerable late.
Having taken plenty of benefit from both race day outings, Don Valiente will now enjoy some time in the paddock to continue maturing and strengthening, both mentally and physically.
