Don Valiente lines up on debut at Gosford tomorrow
Don Valiente (Pinatubo x Brave Lass, 2YO C) will head to the races tomorrow at Gosford. Lining up in Race 1 over 1100m, a 2YO Maiden Handicap. He has drawn well with Barrier 4 and Rory Hutchings will take the ride. Don Valiente has had a great preparation so far successfully completing two Barrier Trials at Randwick and the team at Michael Freedman Racing are very pleased with how he has handled everything! We are so excited to see him line up at the races on debut and we wish his ownership group the very best of luck!
New Purchase ALERT!
Meet our new Better Than Ready colt ‘Diesel’
Our Bloodstock Team have been hard at work this week on the Gold Coast at the Magic Millions March Yearling Sale. We have successfully purchased Lot 166, a colt by Better Than Ready x Futureal. Being by Champion QLD Sire Better Than Ready – it only made sense that he went to Champion QLD Trainer – Tony Gollan! The colt will head to Newington Farm for his next phase of education, the same place that Blue Diamond favourites Guest House and Big Sky were broken in.
Shares in this colt will be available very soon – to register your interest, please contact us.
Shares are NOW AVAILABLE in our Cool Aza Beel (BZ) filly, Luna!
She is an absolute queen – and now she can officially be yours.
Shares in our beautiful Cool Aza Beel (NZ) x Vanderlune filly are now available. She has recently commenced the next stage of her education at Emeran Park (see further down in this newsletter) and is thriving and continuing to progress impressively since the sale. As you will see in the video above with Troy Corstens and Will Larkin, the team at Malua Racing are just as enthusiastic about this filly as we are. We are incredibly excited about the future she has ahead with their stable.
Her sire Cool Aza Beel (NZ) has made an outstanding start to his stud career, already producing a number of stakes performers, highlighted by Group 1 winning 2YO Cool Archie. Not only is this filly by an emerging top-class stallion, her dam is also a half-sister to Group winner and $1.5 million earner TESTASHADOW. Adding further strength to the pedigree, her full sister Cool Moon has already been a winner since we purchased her.
Shares are selling quickly in this outstanding daughter of Cool Aza Beel (NZ), so be sure to get in touch and secure your share before they’re gone.
Global Eclipse is heading for a sea change
Our boy Global Eclipse is currently enjoying a well-earned break after a solid preparation. He has settled in beautifully to paddock life and is enjoying time out with a group of other geldings, which is great for keeping him relaxed and happy. Reports from the farm have been very positive, with him in terrific spirits, looking fantastic and clearly enjoying the opportunity to recharge after his recent campaign.
Following his performances this preparation, we caught up with the Price Kent Racing team to discuss the best path forward. Throughout the campaign Global Eclipse proved himself to be a genuine and honest racehorse, and importantly he appears to have found his sweet spot around the 2000m distance. His form was encouraging, and as he continues to mature and gain further experience, there is every chance he may stretch out over longer distances in time.
Our goal is always to place Global Eclipse where he can win the best races possible and reach his full potential. After discussions with the Price Kent team, the feeling is that his opportunities in Victoria may be somewhat limited, particularly at black-type level. With that in mind, we believe the Queensland racing program could provide him with stronger opportunities, including races at stakes level.
The plan is for him to continue spelling in Victoria for a few more weeks before travelling to Emeran Park to finish his break. Once ready, he will begin pre-training ahead of his next preparation before relocating to Queensland, where he will be trained by Chris and Corey Munce at Munce Racing and based at Eagle Farm.
Chris and Corey are very excited to have Global Eclipse join their stable and believe the Queensland program will suit him perfectly. They have a strong record with horses of his profile and are well placed to continue his development.
Overall, we are very pleased with how our son of Pierata has come through the preparation and look forward to the opportunities ahead as he enters the next stage of his career.
Our Classic Yearlings have commenced their Breaking In phase
Our 3 Inglis Classic purchases have all commenced their breaking in stage since the sale, all in which are enjoying their next phase of education. As you can see in the videos above and below, both of our Cool Aza Beel (NZ) yearlings are forward, progressive types and are continuing to prove their professionalism with how well they are taking it all in! It is such an exciting time for us all here at miRunners, where we get to see the first glimpses of greatness with our yearlings as they learn such vital lessons in their race careers. So, what exactly goes on during the breaking-in stage for our yearlings?
The breaking-in stage is one of the most important steps in a racehorse’s development. It lays the foundation for everything that follows in training and racing.
Building Trust and Understanding
During the breaking-in process, young horses learn to accept a saddle, bridle, and rider for the first time. Just as importantly, they learn to trust people and understand basic commands. Establishing this trust early helps create a calm, confident horse that can cope with the pressures of a racing career.
Learning the Basics
This stage focuses on teaching the fundamentals: walking, trotting, cantering under a rider, steering, stopping, and responding to cues. These early lessons are critical because they form the building blocks for more advanced race training later on.
Developing Good Habits
Breaking-in is also about establishing correct behaviours and routines. Horses learn to be handled daily, stand quietly, work with other horses, and adapt to new environments. Developing these habits early makes the transition to a busy training stable much smoother.
Assessing the Horse
It also gives trainers an early opportunity to learn about a horse’s temperament, attitude, and natural athleticism. Some horses show natural balance, speed, or professionalism very early, which helps guide how their future training program is planned.
Setting Them Up for a Long Career
A patient and well-managed breaking-in process helps ensure horses remain relaxed and confident, reducing stress and the risk of injury. Ultimately, the goal is to give each horse the best possible start and set them up for a successful and enjoyable racing career.

Star Ambition gets the green light to return to work
Our 3-time-winner Star Ambition (Star Turn) has now been given the green light to return to work at the Gold Coast. He has commenced very light duties at this stage and will remain at this level for the near future as we gradually build his fitness.
His spell in the paddock was a little longer than initially anticipated. We always place the horses’ welfare first, and Gerry benefited from the extra time to fully freshen up – something we believe will pay dividends later on.
He has returned in excellent order for a horse coming straight out of the paddock. Gerry is in great spirits, eating well and moving around with a real spring in his step. We cannot wait to see him back at the races in the coming months with the Toby Edmonds Racing team.
