Global Eclipse is heading for a well deserved spell

Global Eclipse entered his recent preparation in consistent form for the stable of Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr., having built a strong record with two wins and multiple placings from limited starts. Our beautiful 4YO gelding by Pierata had been gradually stepping up in distance, showing particular strength over middle-distance trips around the 2000-metre range. His preparation focused on maintaining fitness and settling into a strong rhythm in races, following a series of competitive runs where he consistently finished in the placings and demonstrated an improving staying profile.

Heading into his most recent win at Pakenham Racecourse on 23rd January 2026, Global Eclipse produced the best performance of his campaign, breaking through for a decisive victory in a Benchmark 66 over 2000 metres. The win reflected the steady progression throughout his preparation, with him settling well and finishing strongly to confirm his suitability at the trip. The result improved his overall career record to two wins and several placings from eleven starts, highlighting his consistency and continued development as a middle-distance performer for the Cranbourne stable.

Global Eclipse has done nothing but try his very best at every start in his career, including his last two starts where they haven’t been the easiest runs, therefore, he is now heading for a very well deserved spell. We will keep you posted on his progress over the coming weeks.

Cobar’s handling it all like a seasoned professional

Cobar completed a Jump Out on Tuesday this week at Pakenham over 800m. He jumped very cleanly and handled the occasion with ease, it was a very quickly run trial for 2YO’s and Cobar held his own in a what ended up a being a very hot tempo. The team at Hayfields Racing are pleased with how he has pulled up, he will head to another Jump Out in the coming weeks where Charlotte would like to see him to step up to 1000m with the addition of some blinkers to help him muster some speed in the concluding stages. Exciting times ahead for this lovely son of Sandbar.

Blinkers to go on Rusty Tycoon next start

Rusty Tycoon ran another honest race this week at Doomben. Both Rob and jockey Daniel Moore felt that he didn’t finish off the race as strongly as he could have, they made the point to mention that he certainly didn’t fade out of the running at the conclusion of the race, it was more a focus issue and therefore the decision has been made to put some ‘blinkers’ on Rusty next start. This will help him focus and switch on in the concluding stages of the race where it really counts – as we know he has a fantastic turn of foot and the addition of blinkers will help him to reach his full potential.

See below a replay of his recent start at Doomben this week.
