MiRunners was established in 2017 as one of the first of it’s kind in Australia, after new ownership and management took over in 2022, the company has gone from strength to strength. Purchasing a number of horses at the major Australasian Yearling Sales year in year out. When the opportunity arose for miRunners to purchase a 10% share in the regally bred son of Farnan out of I Am Excited at the 2024 Magic Millions Sale, miRunners General Manager Mick Rees, and Head of Bloodstock Mick Malone did not have to think twice. “He was a colt that from the first look, he was on our radar, he absolutely oozes quality and is pretty much a dead ringer of his sire”. Now called Farcited, the colt is trained by non other than 7 time Golden Slipper winning trainer Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott. With only 2 starts under his belt, one in which he won impressively by 3 lengths and the other only beaten half a length by another colt by Farnan (King Of Pop – who was bred by miRunners head of Bloodstock – Mick Malone), he certainly seems to be a colt with 2YO speed, precocity and most important of all, natural talent.
When the news came on Tuesday morning that Farcited had gained a start in the richest two year old race in the world, the excitement amongst the miRunners team & owners was mind blowing. “To have a horse running in the Golden Slipper is a huge achievement, we give our owners the opportunity to race incredibly well bred bloodstock with Group 1 winning trainers and to have a horse running in the richest 2YO race in the world is the dream we have been chasing with our owners for a number of years now” Mick Rees, miRunners General Manager.
The miRunners owners couldn’t contain their excitement, “Owning horses with miRunners has given us the opportunity to be a part of experiences that only the top tier of racing generally experience. Being involved with miRunners allowed us to have winners at the best tracks in the country with the best trainers in Australia at an affordable price, now to be involved with Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott and have a chance at winning the $5 million Golden Slipper with Farcited, is what dreams are made of” said Royce Simms from Brisbane.
“I never thought that I would own a racehorse, but the miRunners model allows me to do that. Daring to dream that one of my horses would line up in some of the biggest races in Australia like the Melbourne Cup, The Everest, Cox Plate would be a “pinch me” moment… but to have one in the Golden Slipper… absolutely surreal.” Brad Turnbull just couldn’t believe the news!
Having drawn Barrier 17, the team are realistic that Farcited will have to be quick to jump, but they are certainly confident in his ability. All reports tell us he has only improved since his run in the Group 3 Black Opal and we all know just how unpredictable 2YO racing can be. Farcited was bred and raised at Bell River Thoroughbreds by the Ferguson family, statistically known as one of the best breeders of stakes horses in the country. “It sounds like such a cliche when these horses become good horses but he really was just such a standout from the start, being from a mare like I Am Excited and by a Golden Slipper winning son of Not A Single Doubt we couldn’t be happier with the outcome” James Ferguson said “we are just over the moon to have a runner in this years Slipper carrying our brand and even more thrilled for the guys at miRunners, they do a fantastic job and to see them getting the success they deserve with one of our own is huge.”
