Inglis Classic Yearling Sale – let’s do this!

We are now well into the heart of the 2026 Yearling Sale season. Our Bloodstock Team is currently on-site at Riverside, working through what is shaping up to be an outstanding catalogue. With more than 800 yearlings to inspect, Mick and Mick will continue their assessments through late tomorrow afternoon and into early Sunday morning, ahead of the sale commencing at 10:00am on Sunday.

The 2026 season is shaping up to be our biggest yet, and we’re excited to have you join us on the journey. All 2026 purchases will be announced directly to you via email, and we look forward to welcoming a new and exciting group of horses into the stables.

As previously mentioned, our Head of Bloodstock, Mick Malone, brings a proven track record, having purchased numerous Group and Stakes winners throughout his career. This depth of experience gives both us and our owners great confidence in the quality of horses we target at premier sales, including Inglis and Magic Millions.

If you have any questions regarding purchases, or if there is a specific lot you would like the team to inspect, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via support@mirunners.com at any time.

Global Eclipse lines up at Caulfield tomorrow

Following a well-earned victory at his most recent start, Global Eclipse now looks ahead to his next racing assignment. He is set to compete in Race 1, a Benchmark 70 over 2000 metres, with Damien Lane booked to ride.

We extend our best wishes to his large ownership group and look forward to cheering him home. A replay of his last-start victory is available below, where he scored an impressive win at Pakenham with Ben Melham in the saddle.

Rusty Tycoon is off to the races next week

Purchased at the 2024 Inglis Classic SaleRusty Tycoon is set to return to the races next week at Doomben. He has continued to progress well throughout this preparation, showing good improvement with each outing.

Rusty completed a jump-out at Deagon last week, where he performed confidently and professionally. The team reports that his fitness has improved further since that trial, and anticipation is building ahead of his next start.

Mick Rees will be trackside alongside Rusty Tycoon’s enthusiastic ownership group to cheer him home. Heading into just his fifth career start, we are hopeful he can take the next step forward and break through for his maiden victory.

Best of luck to all connections!

Inglis Classic Yearling Sale: Owners Tour

Following a highly competitive Magic Millions Sale, where the team finished as underbidders on nine lots, our focus has now shifted to the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney, taking place from 8–10 February.

We have enjoyed strong success at this sale in previous years, securing quality bloodstock including stable favourite Rusty Tycoon and the exciting 2YO ‘Donny’. As we search for our next stable stars, we look forward to bringing you along on the journey.

Our Owners Tour will be held at 11:00am on 9th of February, and RSVPs are essential via support@mirunners.com.

For those unable to attend, rest assured that all updates will continue to be shared first with our current miRunners owners, ensuring you have priority access to any new purchases. Additionally, we encourage you to follow our social media channels for regular updates throughout the sale.

Cobar is swimming laps – so, what are the benefits?

Our 2YO colt Cobar (Sandbar x Moss My Name) is currently in work at Hayfield’s Racing and continues to progress well, developing into a very promising and handsome young horse. With his fitness steadily improving and a solid foundation of education, he is being prepared to contest a Barrier Trial in the coming weeks.

Charlotte and the team have been making excellent use of the pool as part of his training, and as highlighted in the video above, Cobar is thoroughly enjoying the experience.

There are many benefits to swimming racehorses, including:

Low-impact conditioning
Water supports the horse’s weight, so swimming builds fitness without the pounding stress on joints, tendons, and ligaments that comes with galloping.

Cardiovascular fitness
Swimming seriously challenges the heart and lungs. A few minutes in the water can raise a horse’s heart rate comparable to fast work on the track, helping maintain or improve aerobic capacity.

Muscle development
Swimming engages the neck, back, core, shoulders, and hindquarters in a different way than galloping. It promotes balanced muscle strength and can help even out asymmetries.

Injury rehab and prevention
Horses coming back from tendon, ligament, or joint issues can stay fit while reducing re-injury risk. It also helps prevent overuse injuries when mixed into a training program.

Mental freshness
Swimming breaks up the routine. Many horses relax in the water, which can reduce stress, sourness, and burnout – this is very important for young racehorses!

Weight management
It burns calories efficiently without mechanical strain, helping maintain optimal body condition.

Donny is not far off heading to a Barrier Trial and being named

Another of our past Inglis Classic purchases is Donny. He is currently building fitness and continuing his education under Golden Slipper-winning trainer Michael Freedman at Randwick. Now enjoying his third campaign as a 2YO, Donny is close to being officially named and is preparing for his first Barrier Trial.

Michael and his team are very pleased with Donny’s progress and are confident in his preparation as we look toward the Autumn Carnival, where we hope to see him make his racing debut.

A limited number of shares remain in Donny, and we anticipate he will be sold out within the next seven days. For those interested in securing a share, we encourage you to get in touch as soon as possible.

Jake continues to learn his trade at Cranbourne with Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr.

Graff is certainly a sire on the rise! Over the past fortnight alone, he has produced a seven-length trial winner, a Sunlight winner, a debut victor, a provincial winner, and he is the sire of Grafterburners, the current favourite for the Group 1 Galaxy.

Our exciting 2YO colt, Jake, continues his education and training with Group 1 winning trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr. Though still young, he is handling the demands of becoming a racehorse exceptionally well. It won’t be long before he is officially named, heads to his first Barrier Trial, and ultimately makes his racecourse debut.

With another Graff progeny, Kakoda, announcing herself today with a $50,000 Maiden win on debut, it’s an exciting time to invest in a colt by this emerging sire. Shares in Jake are forecast to sell out within the next seven days, so those interested are encouraged to secure their share NOW, before it’s too late!
