About Star Ambition

We are thrilled to purchase 50% of this striking colt in partnership with Edmonds Racing, and we can’t wait for you to join us on this ownership journey!

Enjoy some fun facts below:

  • A striking Chestnut colt by sire Star Turn.
  • Purchased at 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale (Lot 1075) for AUD $154,000 (inc GST) from Baramul Stud in Widden Valley, NSW.
  • Star Turn was a powerhouse sprinter and the ONLY 3yo colt of his generation who measured up to weight-for-age (WFA) Gr.1 racing in the Autumn and he had passed his strength and precocity into his progeny.
  • Star Turn wasn’t just a phenomenal 3yo! In a stellar crop of colts, Star Turn drew first blood as a Spring 2yo in the Pierro Plate at Randwick before a 2nd to Flying Artie in the Blue Diamond Prelude in the Autumn. His only unplaced runs in a 12 start career were 5th and 6th in Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper respectively.
  • It’s not surprising that he was a pre-Christmas juvenile winner given his precocious pedigree and sharp looks being a $400,000 yearling. He is by Gr.1 Blue Diamond-winning Star Witness, who won 3 of his 4 2yo starts and is from 5-time Stakes winning sprinter Golden Delicious.
  • As a 3yo Star Turn returned for a spring campaign with a dominant victory over Golden Slipper winner Capitalist in the San Domenico Stakes Gr.3 and was then sent to Melbourne, where he produced another brilliant burst of acceleration to win the WFA Gr.2 Schillaci Stakes against older horses (Malaguerra, Fell Swoop).
  • Star Turn retired in 2017 following a three start autumn campaign highlighted by Group 1 WFA placings in some of Australia’s premier sprints; the Lightning Stakes, Newmarket Hcp, and William Reid Stakes.
  • In one of the most impressive groups of freshman sires, Star Turn holds his own and is a consistent top 5 stallion on the Australian second-season winners, wins, and prizemoney table.
  • Star Turn had the highest two-year-old winning strike rate of all sires in 2020-21 at better than 46%. That’s 11% higher than Snitzel! As well as precocious two-year-olds, this season Star Turn proved his ability to sire talented three-year-olds.
  • 2022 – 2023 had a 71.1% winners to runners success rate.
All you need to know about trainers Toby and Trent Edmonds
We are thrilled to have Toby and Trent Edmonds training this Star Turn colt for miRunners.

  • Trent who officially joined his dad Toby in the training partnership in 2019, pride themselves on their ability to place their horses in the right races, giving owners the best possible chance of experiencing the thrill of winning.
  • During a record breaking 2019-20 season, Toby and Trent finished inside the top 10 trainers on the Australian Trainers Premiership with 135 winners – breaking their own Metropolitan and Overall win record. That achievement saw Edmonds Racing finish second on the Queensland Trainers Premiership with an enviable strike rate of 20% winners to runners.
  • The father-and-son training duo have also proven their consistency at the highest level, training an astonishing 13 Stakes Winners in the two years since the partnership started.
