miRunners Update March 2024

I hope this message finds you all in great spirits, I’m thrilled to share some exciting updates and announcements from the miRunners stable.

Firstly, let’s talk about our stars on the track. Fixated recently took to Eagle Farm for a jumpout against some formidable open company horses. While it wasn’t a flawless display, Fixated held his own and is steadily bouncing back from his setback. We are looking forward to seeing him in action again very soon, most probably in another trial.

Similarly, Strasbeau recently had a trial at Gawler. Bouncing out of the gates with renewed energy, he left behind a previous lacklustre trial and delighted all the owners present with his improved showing. He has now been nominated for a 2 year old race at Murray Bridge on the 9th March over 1100m.

Global Eclipse is back at Rosehill and has commenced his preparation.  This prep we are looking to get him to a trial and hopefully all going well, we will see him make his racing debut.  It’s been a fair lay off for Divine Existence particularly but she has handled her recovery very well. Zoushack and Star Ambition are looking at a return to training in the very near future.

I have been eager to announce the secured events for 2024 and trust me they are ones that you do not want to miss. You will see further detail on these events in our ‘What’s News’ section below.

Thank you for your incredible ongoing support. I feel privileged to be on this racehorse ownership journey with each and every one of you, and I cannot wait to connect with as many owners as possible over the coming months.

Regards

Mick

FROM THE TRAINERS

miRunners welcomes Annabel Neasham to the family!

Growing up in the Northamptonshire village of Croughton in the United Kingdom, Annabel honed her horsemanship skills through eventing, show-jumping and hunting. It was the British jumps scene that first hooked her into racing, avidly following National Hunt events such as the Cheltenham Festival.

In 2016, Annabel took up the opportunity to travel to Australia – for what was meant to be a working holiday. She never left, and now can’t imagine being anywhere else. After six months with Gai Waterhouse, Annabel relocated to the Caulfield stable of Ciaron Maher. Annabel was able to work with quality Group 1 winners such as Jameka and Merchant Navy. Maher soon put her in charge of the Sydney branch of the stable.  Under Annabel’s watch, the stable recorded more than 50 victories in New South Wales in its first two seasons and unveiled a string of high-quality young horses such as Dubious, Prague, Away Game, Holyfield and Cellsabeel.

The strong results paint a clear picture of Annabel’s training talents. Her two years at the helm of Ciaron Maher Racing’s Sydney stable have also familiarised her with her surroundings at Warwick Farm, where she was granted 36 boxes to begin her solo training career in the 2020-21 racing season.

Annabel Neasham Racing has established a remarkable track record since Annabel transitioned to training in her own right. With an impressive tally of 8 Group 1 wins, 13 Group 2 wins, 5 Group 3 wins, and 15 listed wins achieved, her success speaks volumes.

We are excited to invite you to join us and the experience of racing that accompany Annabel Neasham’s training prowess.  Whether you’re a seasoned racing enthusiast or new to the world of horseracing, owning a share of a racehorse through miRunners with Annabel Neasham Racing offers an unforgettable journey into racehorse ownership.

TRACKSIDE

Fixated’s trial last week

Amidst a Brisbane summer marked by relentless rain, Fixated recently returned to the turf at Doomben for a trial that left us all feeling optimistic.

Despite the deluge that has characterised this season, the track at Doomben held up admirably for the grass trials. Fixated, under the guidance of Rob Heathcote, tackled the trial very well. Notably, some of the contenders in the race were open company horses, providing a true test of Fixated’s mettle.

While it’s natural for any horse to tire towards the end of his first hit out after a spell, Fixated showed us that he’s still got it. As expected, he will need to shed a few more kilograms, but this was anticipated and nothing out of the ordinary.

Looking ahead, Fixated is poised for another trial, likely scheduled for Tuesday the 12th of March. Following this, he will be primed and ready to make his return to the races. Rob is satisfied with Fixated’s progress, reassuring us that there are no lingering signs of the hamstring issue that he had.

We are excited to see Fixated back at Eagle Farm, and we can’t wait to see him back in action, representing the miRunners family.

As always, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and everyone of Fixated’s owners for your unwavering support and enthusiasm. We are looking forward to the next chapter of his journey, cheering him on with you.
