There is an incredible amount of activity brewing at miRunners and it is an absolute pleasure to be able to bring to your attention the latest news.
Our 2024 yearlings are making tremendous progress. The Farnan x I Am Excited, Farnan x Comprende, Rusty (Brutal x Sponsored), and the Time To Reign x Guapa colts are all exceeding our expectations at this stage of their development. Annabel Neasham was particularly taken aback by the Time To Reign colt upon his arrival at Rosehill. She noted his impressive physical presence and remarked on his strength, which is exceptional for a young colt.
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott have both been impressed with the Farnan x I Am Excited and the Farnan x Comprende colts. They are showing signs of being serious racehorses and are developing very quickly. Their progress is so promising that we have been asked to submit racing names to Racing Australia, indicating their potential as strong early two-year-olds.
The team at Washpool Lodge cannot speak highly enough about Rusty. They have been thoroughly impressed with his cool, calm, and collected approach to everything. Rusty looks set to integrate seamlessly into Rob Heathcote’s stable, continuing the legacy left by Dusty Tycoon.

The class of 2023 are all currently in work, except for Strasbeau, who is not far from making his return to Morphettville. Star Ambition caught everyone’s attention with a spectacular trial at the Gold Coast, blowing the field away. Global Eclipse has also been trialling well, starting to demonstrate the ability suggested by his impressive pedigree. Divine Existence has started to do some of her best work to date now that she has been able to string a number of weeks together. The Waterhouse Bott team have been slowly increasing her work which she has handled very well. Cardiologist has made his much anticipated return to Cranbourne where he nicked his leg and had a slight infection that set him back a few days, however he is back in training now and we are following his progress with great anticipation.
It has been an emotional few weeks as we bid farewell to Fixated, who has retired after providing us with a wonderful journey. He has happily settled into his new home in the Yarra Valley, living his best life in the pampering care of owner Claire Cooksey and her family.
We are eagerly looking forward to catching up with many of you at the Upper Hunter Valley tour on the 22nd and 23rd of June. This event promises an unforgettable experience, touring some of the best studs in the Southern Hemisphere and culminating in an exciting afternoon at the Scone races. A few tickets remain, so if you can join us, we highly encourage you to secure your spot for a fantastic weekend.

Missy is just magnificent
Exciting times are ahead for the miRunners community as we welcome Missy, our stunning new grey filly sired by Dundeel out of New York Lights. The launch of unit sales for Missy has been met with an overwhelming response from our owners, with units being snapped up as soon as they went on sale. It is clear that Missy has captured the hearts and imaginations of many already.
Currently, Missy is at Emeran Park, where she is being broken in and educated. This critical phase in her development is going exceptionally well. Shannon Betts and her dedicated team have reported that Missy is settling in beautifully. She has shown herself to be a relaxed and precocious yearling, exhibiting the calm temperament and potential of a quality racehorse.
Once her breaking-in process is complete, Missy will travel to the stables of Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman at Pakenham, which will be her new home. Under their expert guidance, Missy will continue her training and preparation for what we believe will be a successful racing career.
Missy’s potential isn’t just limited to the racetrack. With her impeccable lineage and striking grey coat, she holds promise as a future broodmare, possibly producing some extraordinary grey progeny. This dual potential makes owning a unit in Missy an enticing opportunity not only to experience the thrill of racing but also to possibly delve into the thoroughbred breeding industry in the future.
Units in Missy are available for $128 upfront, with an ongoing monthly fee of $20.41 for the first unit and $9.41 for each additional unit. There’s no better time to invest in this promising young filly.

Meet Rusty!
The Legacy of Dusty Tycoon continues!
Meet Rusty, a new addition to our stable, sired by the electrifying stallion Brutal and out of the accomplished mare and dam of our very own Dusty Tycoon Sponsored. Trained by the 12 time Group 1 winning trainer Rob Heathcote at Eagle Farm, Rusty represents a unique opportunity for anyone looking to own a premium racehorse and have the time of their lives for very little outlay.
Brutal is a name that resonates with excellence. His accolades are nothing short of remarkable.
Group 1 Doncaster Handicap Winner: Brutal claimed this time-honoured race in fewer starts than any horse in history.
Premiere Stakes Champion: Triumphed in the WFA Group 2 Premiere Stakes, defeating top contenders like Classique Legend, Osborne Bulls, and Graff.
Lead Me On, one of Brutal’s progeny, emerged victorious in the $500,000 Magic Millions colts and geldings race on debut in January this year blowing away his rivals in an incredibly tough display.
Brutal managed to push Winx to the limit in the weight for age Group 1 George Ryder Stakes. Brutal dominated a quality field of 2-year-olds, including Group 1 winner Mystic Journey, by 5 lengths at Caulfield.
Brutal’s pedigree is equally impressive, being sired by the New Zealand champion O’Reilly and out of Alberton Princess (by Golan). With a race record of five wins and earnings exceeding $2.6 million, Brutal’s yearlings have fetched impressive sums at sales, further underscoring his exceptional value as a sire.
Rusty inherits his sire’s extraordinary talent and potential. Rusty is poised to make his mark with Heathcote’s track record and training acumen making him the perfect mentor for our promising yearling.
miRunners offers an affordable way to be part of Rusty’s journey with the initial Investment only $132 upfront per unit and monthly fees of $20.46 for the first unit and $9.46 for each additional unit.

Trainer in Focus – Toby Edmonds, Gold Coast QLD.
We shine the spotlight on miRunners trainer Toby Edmonds, who is charting an impressive course from his base at the Gold Coast.
Recently, Toby embarked on a solo training venture after a successful partnership with his son Trent. Trent has moved to Pakenham to pursue his own training ambitions, leaving Toby to lead the operation independently. Despite this transition, things are going exceptionally well for Toby. Although he doesn’t compete in every Metropolitan meeting, he maintains a solid stable of promising young horses, with the future looking very bright.
Currently, Toby has 52 horses in work, each receiving his expert care and training. Among them are three standout horses he recommends keeping an eye on: Star Ambition, Barassi, and Greyzous.
Star Ambition: This young star has been making waves with his exceptional performances in trials. With three consecutive wins, Star Ambition is poised to make a significant impact in his upcoming races.
Barassi: Another promising talent, Barassi is drawing attention with his impressive training sessions and potential on the track. His strong build and excellent conditioning make him one to watch.
Greyzous: Known for his striking appearance and speed, Greyzous is showing tremendous promise.
One of the highlights of Toby’s illustrious training career was winning the Magic Millions 2-Year-Old Classic with Houtzen and taking her to compete at Royal Ascot.
Recently, one of Toby’s stable stars, Alpine Edge, retired to stud after a successful racing career. Reflecting on Alpine Edge, Toby fondly recalls him as the consummate gentleman for a colt. “He never had a lame day and was very sound until he suffered an awful tendon injury that ended his career. He had the best nature, was tough as nails, and always gave his absolute best in every race,” Toby shared.
For those eager to catch up with Toby Edmonds you can meet him at the Sunshine Coast track on Sunday, June 16th when Star Ambition will be making his much-anticipated debut.
Star Ambition shines brightly
Star Ambition, affectionately known as Jerry, had his first road trip for a trial at Doomben over 1000m on a Soft 5 track. This trial follows his impressive performance at the Gold Coast, where he won by 2 lengths, leaving the third horse a significant 6 lengths behind.
In that Gold Coast trial, Jerry displayed impeccable barrier manners despite the antics of other two-year-olds around him. This calm demeanor is a testament to the exceptional training and education he received at Emeran Park under Shannon Betts and her dedicated team.
At Doomben, Jerry once again proved his mettle. He jumped exceptionally well and, showing versatility, took a box seat behind the leaders instead of leading from the front as he had in previous trials. As they rounded the top of the straight, jockey James Orman expertly navigated a tight gap between the leading horse and the rail, propelling Jerry to take the lead and secure his third consecutive trial win.
Now, all eyes turn to Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast, where Jerry will contest a maiden race over 1000m on Sunday, June 16th. We encourage all miRunners owners to come trackside and cheer on Star Ambition in what promises to be an exciting debut race.
Global Eclipse tackles tough conditions at Hawkesbury
Global Eclipse faced a challenging second trial at Hawkesbury on a Heavy 10 track, conditions far from ideal for the big, stunning colt. Despite the heavy going, he jumped well out of the gates and demonstrated excellent barrier manners, a trait he shares with Star Ambition thanks to his education at Emeran Park.
Ridden by Adam Hyeronimous, Global Eclipse struggled with the heavy track, a sentiment echoed by his jockey post-race. However, this experience is invaluable for the colt, who also performed admirably in his first trial at Rosehill on a soft track a few weeks ago.
Global Eclipse, sired by Pierata, is a striking presence on the track, and his potential is undeniable. We eagerly await some much needed sunshine to dry up the Sydney tracks, allowing him to trial again under more favourable conditions before making his racing debut.
Looking ahead
The progress of both Star Ambition and Global Eclipse has been immensely satisfying for all involved. As we eagerly anticipate their respective race debuts, the dedication and hard work of Shannon Betts and the team at Emeran Park is evident in these young stars’ performances.
Mark your calendars for June 16th and join us at Caloundra to support Star Ambition. Stay tuned for further updates on Global Eclipse’s next trial and upcoming races.
