miRunners Update April 2024

I hope this message finds you all well and you had a happy and safe Easter break.

We are excited to announce that the locations for our June owners tour have now been finalised.

On Saturday the 22nd of June we will be attending Kia Ora Stud and North Bloodstock and then on Sunday heading over to Newgate Farm for a few hours. There will be a cost for the bus that will take us on the 2 day tour and catering on Saturday. An invitation with all relevant details will be sent out to all current owners within the next 2 weeks. Spaces will be limited.

We currently have 6 horses in work, marking the most number of horses we have had preparing for the races since acquiring miRunners in September 2022. Darren’s vision when purchasing the company was to have your horses hitting the tracks weekly during a busy racing period, and we are steadily moving towards making that a reality.

We will continue to be active at all the biggest bloodstock sales in the country like we have been. In the last 14 months, we have successfully purchased 10 premium bred racehorses, bringing the total to 13 in our stable, including Zoushack, Fixated, and Dusty Tycoon. All of our horses have been sent to successful group winning trainers across 4 states. These achievements underline our dedication to growing and improving miRunners to offer you the best ownership experiences possible.

If you ever have any questions, concerns, or feedback, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at support@mirunners.com.

miRunners trainers are hitting the mark.

As we head into April we think it’s a good time to reflect on the impressive performances of our miRunners trainers. The statistics are in and the results speak for themselves. Let’s delve into the numbers and celebrate the achievements to date. Please take note that these statistics are accurate at the time of writing.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott continue to dominate with an impressive $26,291,870.00 in prize money. Their horses have secured 130 first-place finishes out of 645 starts. With a wins percentage of 20.2% and a place percentage of 41.2%, their consistency and excellence are evident.

Annabel Neasham’s stable has showcased remarkable consistency with 118 first and second-place finishes each and 106 third-place finishes.  With a total prize money of $10,615,845.00 and a wins percentage of 15.1%, her team’s performance is truly commendable.

The Price and Kent duo have delivered consistent results, securing 97 first-place finishes out of 531 starts. With a wins percentage of 18.3% and a place percentage of 44.4%, their team’s performance is exemplary.

Robert Heathcote’s stable has secured 54 first-place finishes and a total prize money of $5,109,690.00. With a wins percentage of 13.6%, his team continues to perform at a high level.

The Jolly team has showcased their prowess with 54 first-place finishes out of 314 starts, resulting in a wins percentage of 17.2%. Their performance is a testament to their skill and dedication. They have been at the top of the tree in South Australia for some time now and everything indicates that that is the way it will remain for some time.

Toby Edmonds has delivered impressive results with 23 first-place finishes and a wins percentage of 17.8%. His team’s ability to consistently place is evident with a place percentage of 46.5%. Toby is doing an outstanding job with Star Ambition. On a side note, stable star Alpine Edge has been retired to stud in QLD which is a testament to Toby’s success.

The Freedman stable has secured 20 first-place finishes and a total prize money of $1,286,455.00. Their commitment to excellence is reflected in their consistent performances. With Global Eclipse back in the stable and looking to trial in the near future all eyes will be on the Freedman’s.

We are truly grateful to our incredible team of trainers we have at miRunners. They are some of the best trainers in the country which is why we have our horses in their care.

Global Eclipse has a stable name

We are excited to announce that Global Eclipse has been given a fantastic stable name. After receiving numerous creative and thoughtful entries in our naming competition, we are thrilled to congratulate Les Sperring from NSW for his winning entry, Floyd!

Les was inspired to name Global Eclipse “Floyd” because, in his opinion, the colt looks like a rock star. He shared, “Using the Eclipse, I reverted to a great album, Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Hence, Floyd – a strong name for the rockstar”.  We couldn’t agree more, Les! Floyd joins the ranks of other miRunners horses with their stable names:

Zoushack – Shacky

Fixated – Apollo

Star Ambition – Jerry

Cardiologist – Oakley

Strasbeau – Fritz

Brutal x Sponsored colt – Rusty

As we continue to expand our miRunners family, Divine Existence will be the next colt to receive a stable name, along with our new yearlings who are yet to be named. We look forward to you naming these horses in the very near future.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the naming competition. Your creativity and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated. Stay tuned for more exciting updates and opportunities to engage with your miRunners horses!

Fixated’s impressive return to racing.

We are delighted to report that Fixated made his long awaited return to racing at Eagle Farm. He had an excellent start to his preparation, finishing just 1.2 lengths behind the winner.

Despite facing some challenges last start, Fixated demonstrated his resilience on the track. He was unfortunately hampered by a nasty bit of kickback striking him in the eye, resulting in a severe black eye that significantly swelled over Saturday night. Thankfully, Rob noticed it first thing on Sunday morning and treated it immediately, which you can see in the below before and after treatment images. His prompt and effective treatment resolved the issue, and Fixated has been recovering well.

We are excited to see Fixated progress to running over 1400mtrs at Eagle Farm on Saturday, 6th April. His first up run was very positive and we look forward to cheering him on again in his second up start on the 6th.

Strasbeau update

Strasbeau had an eventful day at Morphettville on what was supposed to be his debut run. Many owners travelled to see our boy at his first start. We really appreciate the effort our owners make to get track side on race day and share the experience with fellow owners.

Strasbeau jumped the gun and burst through the barriers, completing a parade lap of the course and being unable to be pulled up by jockey Will Price he was a late scratching.

Strasbeau will now head to Murray Bridge to compete in a maiden race over 900m on Wednesday the 3rd April. We look forward to him heading back to Murray Bridge where he was broken in and hopefully seeing him put into practice some of the positive signs he has shown us in some of his work.
