Register your interest NOW for our future Magic Millions Yearling purchases

It’s been a huge week in the Hunter Valley where we have inspected over 550 yearlings heading to the Magic Millions January Yearling Sale. While inspecting yearlings, our bloodstock team take a number of variables into consideration, but at the end of the day – sometimes you just know when you love a horse from the first time you lay eyes on him or her.

This week, we visited the following farms: Baramul Stud, Widden Stud, Golden Grove, Kingstar Farm, Amarina Farm, Fernrigg Farm, Emirates Park, Goodwood Farm, Riversdale, Willow Park Stud, Cressfield, Newgate Farm, Sledmere Stud, Vinery Stud, Alma Vale Thoroughbreds, Glenbeigh, Middlebrook, Corumbene, Toolooganvale Farm, North Bloodstock, Yarraman Park Stud, Attunga Farm, Kia Ora Stud, Segenhoe Stud and Coolmore Stud.

As we continue to study the catalogue over the next few weeks and we get closer and closer to the sale, we will be sharing some of the lots that have caught our eye!

Global Eclipse adds another brave 2nd to his resume

Global Eclipse was fantastic last weekend when he ran 2nd in Race 6 at Traralgon over 1900m With a large amount of rain fall in Victoria over the last few weeks, it was unfortunately another heavy track for our beautiful boy. As we know he doesn’t love a wet track, yet he still ran a huge race delivering a thrilling head-bobbing finish to place 2nd by a nose.

He always tries so hard for us and there’s not much more you can ask for! He has pulled up a treat and the team at Price Kent Racing are very happy with him. He has now been nominated for a race in Mornington in the coming weeks.

Looking to the future for Farnished

Farnished contended Race 1 at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. After two super trials this preparation, the pressure of race day and the high speed tempo unfortunately got the better of him. Although, the team at Waterhouse Bott Racing are very pleased with how he has pulled up from the run and are confident he will take a lot of improvement from the experience. He has been nominated for a 1200m race at Gosford on the 18th of December which will suit him a lot better.

Freddy is loving his pre-training at Emeran Park

Our 2YO Pierata x Highland Daughter gelding has enjoyed his spell and is now back in work at Emeran Park. The team are delighted with his progress so far and he continues to build his fitness nicely in preparation to head back to Warwick Farm with his trainer Bjorn Baker!

You will notice in the video that Freddy is spending time on an Equine Treadmill. Using a horse treadmill offers several benefits for training, rehabilitation, and overall equine conditioning:

1. Controlled, Consistent Exercise

  • Provides a steady, predictable speed and incline, allowing precise control over workouts.

  • Helps target specific fitness goals without variables like uneven terrain or weather.

2. Low-Impact Conditioning

  • Many treadmills offer cushioned surfaces that reduce stress on joints and hooves.

  • Ideal for building cardiovascular endurance while minimising the risk of injury.

3. Rehabilitation Support

  • Excellent for horses recovering from injuries because intensity can be adjusted gradually.

  • Promotes controlled movement, improving circulation and muscle repair without overloading healing tissues.

4. Gait and Posture Improvement

  • Allows to closely observe gait patterns from multiple angles.

  • Useful for diagnosing and correcting movement abnormalities.

5. Musculoskeletal Strengthening

  • Incline options help develop specific muscle groups, especially the hindquarters and topline.

  • Water treadmills add resistance, increasing strength without harsh impact.

6. Conditioning in Any Weather

  • Indoor treadmills ensure horses maintain training schedules regardless of rain, heat, or muddy footing.

7. Weight Management

  • Regular, controlled exercise helps prevent obesity and related metabolic issues.

8. Time and Labor Efficiency

  • Allows the horse to exercise without needing a rider.

  • Multiple horses can be conditioned simultaneously depending on facility setup.

9. Improved Mental Focus

• The structured, repetitive environment can help some horses become more relaxed and attentive during workouts.

Val De Grise enjoys her morning out at Doomben

After all the heavy rain fall in Queensland the last few weeks, Val De Grise struggled to get to the trials due to the constant cancellations! Rob Heathcote took her to Doomben this week for a Jump Out on the grass over 1000m. As you can see from the replay above, she just missed the kick a touch and comfortably sat at the back of the field. As you watch the trial, you will see that she only really relaxes towards the end of the trial where she hits the line very well. Rob Heathcote and jockey Cejay Graham were very happy with her and are excited to send her to an official barrier trial over the next few weeks and then hopefully, off to the races!

The beautiful daughter of Dundeel (NZ) has made so much improvement over the last few months and we are so excited to see her continue to improve and hopefully head towards her first race start.

Sick of hearing ‘You’re so hard to buy for’?

The gift that keeps on giving this Christmas!

Donny has just completed his second preparation with Michael Freedman at Randwick, where he was a perfect gentleman – doing everything that was asked of him. Michael feels he will be a colt that we will most likely see have his first race start during the Autumn Carnival next year and therefore he has now gone for a short break in the paddock before he returns to Randwick and will start to build his fitness heading towards his first race start.

Shares are proving very popular with Donny – with only limited shares available, you can head to our website via the link below to get involved!

Our 2YO Graff colt ‘Jake’ has now successfully completed his second preparation with the Price Kent Racing team at Cranbourne. He has now gone for a well earned break. We are so excited about this colt – he has the most professional attitude and really looks like a ready-made race horse. Something about Jake that you may not have realised, is that he out of a Not A Single Doubt mare. Not A Single Doubt as a Broodmare Sire has earnings over $4,000,000 this season so far and over $13,000,000 last season – now that is seriously impressive. Shares are available in Jake via our website, follow the link below to get involved, but be quick to get in before Christmas – he is selling out fast!
