Troy Corstens trains the Geelong Community Thoroughbred Not A Single Doubt x Countess Dehere. Troy is excited by what this filly is showing this preparation, and can’t wait to get her up and racing in Geelong silks.
Troy Corstens is a regular entrant in Victoria’s premier trainer lists. He is known for his judgment of promising future stars, and his ability to see the early potential in a horse as evidenced by current youngsters such as Thrillster and Really Swish.
Troy’s first involvement with a major winner was Triple Group One winner Helenus. He purchased him as a yearling and enjoyed success training him to the 2002 Caulfield Guineas and VRC Derby with his father Leon.
Individually, his first Group One winner was with Awesome Rock in the 2016 VRC Mackinnon Stakes. An outsider in the field at $18, Awesome Rock sat in second position for the majority of the race before exploding down the straight and winning the race by nearly a length. More-recently, Troy secured his second Group One winner in Montoya’s Secret at Rosehill Gardens in early 2017. This was a particularly special victory as it marked the first Sydney Group One win for the father-son duo, and the first Sydney Group One win for Troy as a trainer.
Team Corstens has trained 56 winners overall, with the likes of Thrillster, King’s Command, Spring Choice, Runson and Thunderdome. All are winners of Listed races and have exciting racing futures ahead. One of the benefits of being a miRunners owner is being able to hear from some of Australia’s best trainers first-hand. Here, Troy talks about his training philosophy, starting from the moment foal is born.
Troy trains miRunners Team Geelong community thoroughbred Not A Single Doubt x Countess Dehere. Units are available in this fluent filly for $198 + $15 per month for the first unit bought, and $5 per month for each subsequent unit.
Not a Single Doubt is one of the most sought after sires in Australia, with Arrowfield stud saying that “it’s the raw, precocious speed that he injects into his progeny that makes them so popular with trainers – they are simply born to run”.
Not A Single Doubt’s progeny have it all: class, precocity and versatility and is a mainstay in Australia’s top 10 sires. This is also why his 33 lots at the 2018 Magic Millions Sales recorded an average sale price of $265,000 with a top price of $700,000. We were thrilled to secure her at $198,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale auctions. Proving to be one of Australia’s most reliable sources of early runners, tellingly two-year-olds, supply one third of his stakes winners.
This is the seventh foal out of Countess Dehere, who has already had racing success with her foals. Half siblings Divine Service and and Happy Chappy have had success, both earning over $250,000 in prize money. Divine Service has eight wins to his name with Happy Chappy having 2 wins and 3 placings from his 10 starts.
