More-recently, Troy secured his second Group One winner in Montoya’s Secret at Rosehill Gardens in early 2017. This was a particularly special victory as it marked the first Sydney Group One win for the father-son duo, and the first Sydney Group One win for Troy as a trainer.Troy’s first involvement with a major winner was Triple Group One winner Helenus. He purchased him as a yearling and enjoyed success training him to the 2002 Caulfield Guineas and VRC Derby with his father Leon.

Team Corstens has trained 56 winners overall, with the likes of Thrillster, King’s Command, Spring Choice, Runson and Thunderdome. All are winners of Listed races and have exciting racing futures ahead. One of the benefits of being a miRunners owner is being able to hear from some of Australia’s best trainers first-hand. Here, Troy talks about his training philosophy, starting from the moment foal is born.

What you need to know about this fillies pedigree

A Word from Trainer Troy Corstens

“She has both type and pedigree, and that’s unusual and special. The best thing about this filly, and it’s something that I always look for in a filly, is that she looks like a colt. She’s got the big strong shoulders, really good deep girth. She’s very good in front and clean in the legs so that should help her when we get up and put the pressure on. She’s just a really good strong filly with a great attitude and a very good eater, which is nice, it’s a really good attribute to have in a race horse.”

miRunners Bloodstock Agent Mick Malone on the filly

MiRunners’ Mick Malone was impressed with her promise and early progress: “This filly has really developed since we purchased her back in February. She has a beautifully fluent action, big strong forearm and gaskins, great depth of hip, and lovely short cannons. Her attitude towards all aspects of her work has continued to impress all that work with her. She handled the breaking and learning stage really well, and has filled out beautifully. Her sire Not a Single Doubt is without question one of Australia’s most sought-after sires. We are very excited by her rapidly growing potential.”
