miRunners Update September 2023

I hope this message finds you well and full of anticipation for the season ahead with your miRunners horses. The past few weeks have been nothing short of action-packed as we are well into the swing of another thrilling racing season.

First and foremost, I’m delighted to share some fantastic news about Fixated. After a minor setback at the Sunshine Coast, he’s back in training and has recovered remarkably well. He looks like contesting another race over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast or possibly a race on a Wednesday over 1100m at Ipswich.

The Strasbourg gelding, our Exceed & Excel colt, and the Star Turn colt have all recently delivered remarkable performances in their jump-outs. These displays have showed the promise that the horses have, and we are excited about seeing how they progress as we are with all of our horses. 2-year-olds can be a bit of a roller coaster, they can be looking ready to trial or race only to next minute be shin sore and need a few weeks off.

We have an owners’ stable visit scheduled at the Heathcote stable on the 4th of October. This is a fantastic opportunity to get up close to Zoushack and Fixated with our trainers, see your horses in their element, and soak in the atmosphere of the stables. We can’t wait to welcome the owners who have RSVP’d.

Our two-year-olds are also hitting significant milestones. They’re either in pre-training or back in full work, which is a clear indication that they’re on the right track to becoming formidable racehorses. The dedication and passion of our trainers are evident in the progress these young talents are making.

At miRunners, we deeply appreciate the unwavering support and enthusiasm of our ownership group. It’s your commitment that fuels our pursuit of excellence and keeps us motivated to strive for the best in every aspect of our operations. As we approach the upcoming racing season, we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible, either at the races or at one of our upcoming events.

FROM THE TRAINERS

miRunners owner’s recently visited the Jolly Stable in Morphettville, South Australia. This special day brought together passionate miRunners owners, and one incredible Strasbourg gelding, affectionately known by stable staff as Fritz.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the chance for the owners to meet their beloved Fritz in person. Seeing their horse up close, petting him, and sharing a moment of connection was an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. It’s these moments that make racehorse ownership with miRunners truly magical. It was very moving to see Val Burman who is 95 years old make it to the stable. Val has not left her house in the last two years unless it was to attend medical appointments. Val got to pat her horse and meet other owner’s, it was an incredible effort for her to make it on the day.

Owners had the privilege of engaging in candid conversations with Richard and Chantelle Jolly. They learned about Fritz’s progress, his training regimen, and the exciting plans for his future. It’s safe to say that Fritz has been performing well in training and is on the cusp of a trial that promises to be an exciting milestone in his racing career.

The visit also included a behind-the-scenes tour of the Jolly Stable, allowing owners to witness first hand the meticulous care and dedication that goes into nurturing these magnificent animals. Adding to the joy of the day, owners had the opportunity to capture precious memories with Fritz through photographs.

After the stable visit, the owners gathered for a delightful lunch at The Junction Club. The afternoon was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the sharing of countless stories about miRunners horses and the unique experiences they’ve had as racehorse owners. It’s incredible to see how miRunners has not only brought people together but also created a tight-knit community of racehorse owners.

WHAT’S NEWS

We’re excited to spotlight our dedicated miRunners owner, Darren Halpin, and his incredible journey with racehorse, Buenos Noches. Darren’s passion for horse racing and unwavering support has put miRunners in a position to have a bumper year on the racetrack. Not only does Darren own miRunners, he owns a serious crop of racehorses personally. One horse he is part owner in is Buenos Noches, a promising sprinter with immense potential, has been capturing hearts and attention with every stride he takes on the racetrack. As we eagerly await the announcement of slots for the upcoming TAB Everest Stakes, the buzz around Buenos Noches’ chances is growing louder, and for good reason.

Darren along with the other owners, have been witness to Buenos Noches’ impressive performances and development. This horse, known for his speed, tenacity, and determination, embodies the spirit of racing excellence.

The TAB Everest Stakes is a premier event on the Australian racing calendar, and securing a slot in this prestigious race is what all owners strive for. Star Turn Colt jump out!

The Star Turn colt, affectionately known as Jerry at the stables recently had a jump out at the Gold Coast. In a 650-meter jump out that left spectators and trainers with smiles on their faces, Jerry burst out of the barriers with explosive speed, taking the lead right from the start. There was no catching him. As Jerry confidently navigated the course, his jockey decided to ease up, giving the other horses a chance to catch up and ride along in company. However, after the jockey pulled him up momentarily to allow others to join in, he surged ahead once again, opening a substantial gap between himself and the field.

We couldn’t be happier with Jerry’s performance on the Gold Coast, and we can’t wait to see him take this form to the racetrack in the future. Stay tuned for more updates on Jerry, as Toby and Trent continue with his preparation and see where they get to.

Dusty Tycoon covered by Farnan at Kia Ora Stud

We have some thrilling news to share about our beloved Dusty Tycoon! Last week, she had a date with destiny that has us all on the edge of our seats.

Dusty Tycoon was covered by none other than the Golden Slipper winner himself, Farnan, at Kia Ora Stud in the Hunter Valley. This meeting of two incredible equine talents has sent waves of excitement and anticipation through our miRunners family. Now, as we eagerly await the next milestone, all eyes are on the 14-day scan. This critical examination will reveal whether the cover was successful, and if all goes well, we could be expecting a foal.

As we hold our breath and await the results of the scan, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any developments, so stay tuned for more exciting news on this front!
