Not A Royal Doubt returns to the track alongside Slipper favourite

It was a competitive field for Not A Royal Doubt’s first trial of this preparation, as she was up against one of the Golden Slipper favourites in Loving Gaby. Not A Royal Doubt came out well in the barriers to settle at the end of the field, not being at all pushed or stressed by jockey Blake Shinn. The aim of the trial was to just get her familiar with the track again, so she was ridden easy and quietly to the line. It’s exciting for all owners to see Not A Royal Doubt back on the track again, and…

Snitzel was an outstanding sprinter himself, winning seven of his fifteen starts, including the Group One Oakleigh Plate, earning over $1 million AUD in prize money during his career. Although Snitzel had an outstanding career on the track, he has become even more of a phenomenon at stud. The Arrowfield Stud super stallion has been so dominant during 2017-18, he is Australia’s most expensive sire standing at a fee of $220 000. The first race of the day was…

A full breakdown of the miRunners model

With no mark-up on the purchase price of the horse, ownership with miRunners will always be built on quality, transparency and trust. It is somewhat unique to miRunners for a yearling to be offered without the price being marked up from the sale price, however this is key in delivering owners the transparency we believe is important in earning the trust of the public. We are doing something that has never been done before and making ownership affordable to all Australians for the first time. As with anything new, we need to earn your trust and whilst results cannot be…

Everything you need to know about barrier trials

You’ve watched your horse be educated, you’ve chosen their racing name, and now the moment has come for them to hit the track for trials! Watching your horse trial can feel like the Melbourne Cup, but in reality it is just another step in the process of building a racehorse: a racehorse that can handle different tracks, riders and race situations. Horse racing trials are basically mini races without the pressure of result driven outcomes. When working in a race preparation, all horses are accustomed to training with stable mates but this is not racing. Racing has a large number…

This is what a top-class Written Tycoon mare can look like – be part of an open ended story

Owners dream of the day they get to see their very own thoroughbred hit the track. The journey starts early, as owners buy into a yearling and watch them develop and mature into a race horse. For 4YO mare Booker, she showed potential from day one. Being by sire Written Tycoon, she was expected to run early, and that she did. From her 15 race starts since winning her race debut as a 2YO, she has won 5 races including a Group 3, Group 2 and most recently, a Group 1. It seems this mare just keeps getting better, and now…

The feeling of watching your team on the big stage

There is nothing like following a sports team. In Australia, sport is such an important part of our culture and there is nothing more exciting than seeing the sports teams you follow hit the field. Take a few examples of the AFL: You hear the stories – a die-hard Richmond Tigers fan leaving his family holiday in Europe to return to Melbourne for the 2017 Grand Final. Win or lose, he had to be there to witness history, a long 37 years on from their last premiership win. He had been at that Grand Final in 1980, and had followed…

Three Gollan 2YO fillies dominating QLD tracks

There is no question about it, Gollan Stables are on fire at the moment. The most exciting part about it is that a lot of the stables’ success is coming from their young runners, in particular their 2YOs. Three of Gollan’s 2YO fillies are standing out at the moment including Vincere Volare, Niedorp, and Perudo. With all three 2YOs having had 2 runs each, they have had 4 wins between them and 2 second placings. The success of these 2YO fillies is an encouraging sign for our owners of filly Lyrical Girl, who is back in work at Gollan Stables…
