Not A Royal Doubt outclasses field in trial win at Royal Randwick

Lining up for a 10 am start, Not A Royal Doubt looked calm and strong as she made her way to the gates with top jockey Tim Clark on board. She handled her first trial really well, saddling up nicely and showing good speed straight out of the gate. She was prominent from the start settling second in the field, before making her move midway through the trial to lead and eventually kick away to win in good fashion. A group of miRunners owners were cheering from the Old Stand at Royal Randwick as they watched Not A Royal Doubt…

The thrill of premium thoroughbred ownership

Nothing compares to the moment you see your own horse parading in the mounting yard. It’s like seeing your baby’s first steps. Especially if it’s your first. Premium thoroughbred ownership is special. Hearing the pre-race comments exclusively from your trainer and jockey, explaining their vision of how they believe the race will play out. Listening to where your horse will sit in the field. Will it sit two back on the rails and make its move on the turn, or is the plan to lead from start to finish? There is no way to explain what goes through an owner’s…

Premium thoroughbred ownership really is delivering on a lifetime’s ambition for miRunners owners

MiRunners owners are passionate about being first time owners in premium thoroughbred racehorses. You only have to read their comments and testimonials in the miRunners Facebook page, and see their faces and reactions when they meet their horses at our owners’ stable days, and how much they enjoy seeing their horse run,  to know how strong this passion is. And the stats are in: for most, being a thoroughbred owner is a lifetime’s ambition that, until now, has simply not been an option. MiRunners recently completed a survey of our owners. We spoke to 398 owners representing 22% of the…

Graduation time – 3YO back in training

During the spring Australian Racing refocuses again on 2YO racing in an effort to find the next superstar of racing. But just as exciting and often more rewarding can be the return to the track of the 3YO thoroughbred and for many the first full race preparation. On a soft track at Wyong yesterday the first miRunners horse, Saganaki, stretched his legs on the track for the first time this Spring. Owners were ready to see what this gelding had in the tank now he was a 3YO. And he did not disappoint. Saganaki pinged from the gate and did…

Gai Waterhouse eyes maiden Geelong Cup

With the Geelong Cup aka The Gateway to Glory as it is affectionately known to many – due to it’s history of being one of the most reliable precursor guides to the result of the Melbourne Cup – less than 24 hours away we have decided to do a round up of all the miRunners trainers and their days input. Run at Geelong Racecourse over 2400m the open handicap offers prize money of $300,000 and runs the Wednesday after Caulfield Cup Day, around a fortnight before Melbourne Cup Day, and has done so since 1947. First held back in 1872…

Building a vibrant future for racing – based on ownership for everyone, and a love of horses

miRunners is creating a new grassroots movement that will create a new, much larger pool of racehorse owners for the future, creating greater benefits for everyone in the industry. All of us in the thoroughbred racing industry have a responsibility to nurture its future. It’s the second-largest industry in Australia. Around 50,000 people work in racing, and each year an estimated 2.5 million Australians go to the races. New events such as The Everest and The Kosciusko in New South Wales, and new initiatives such as miRunners’ own Community Horse in Geelong, all fire the imagination of the broader public.…

The view from inside Caulfield

It is the home of some of Australia best trainers, a place where the magic of prepping a horse takes place while most people are asleep. But on Friday 28th September 50 lucky miRunners owners joined trainer Mick Price for an insider’s view of a morning training session. It was an overcast start to the day but as owners arrived to the Mick Price Racing gate at Caulfield there was an air of optimism and excitement. They were about to go where even sole owners barely went. With a quick roll call and a serious reminder of the safety concerns…

Queensland trainer Tony Gollan shares his top 5 wins

With four Queensland premierships and known for a long time as the best trainer north of the Tweed River, Tony Gollan has established himself as one of Australia’s premier trainers. Editors note: This article was first published on March 26, 2018. Last year alone Tony’s stable trained 107 winners. Thankfully for us, Tony has a watertight memory and was able to recall which of his more than 1,500 wins are his favourite when we sat down with him. Having recently come on board with miRunners to train Your Song x Sheezenodoubt, here’s Tony’s top five career wins in no particular…
