Hearing your horse’s name broadcasted for the first time across the track and nationally on television is one of the many thrills of being a race horse owner.
The miRunners ownership model aims to engage the wider community to get involved with naming their horses by allowing suggestions to be submitted by the public.
An exclusive miRunners owner privilege is that the final racing name is selected only by owners involved in each horse. By casting a vote from a list of shortlisted suggestions, control is placed in the owner’s hands to select the winning name that will be called as their horse storms to victory.
We are thrilled to announce that the winning name for your Capitalist x Hollywood Mistress colt as voted by his owners is...
Outback Playboy
Outback Playboy is the fourth horse to have successfully undergone the naming process for the miRunners and Racing Queensland partnership.
The winning name was suggested by Genevieve Gill, and this marks her entrance into miRunners ownership with the prize for selecting the name being a unit in the stunning colt. Congratulations Genevieve and welcome to miRunners!
As for the reason behind the name, Genevieve said there were a few.
“As a nod to QLD, I threw in Outback. I do realise that other states have an outback (!) but I thought this could also relate to the vastness of QLD as well.”
Genevieve also likes to follow the horses’ breeding, so wanted a word that ties in with his parents, however one that drifted away from the common combination of both sire and dam.
“I wanted him to have his own identity as well, not just be a combination of his parents’ names. I thought that ‘Playboy’ ties in with Hollywood Mistress really well”.
We couldn’t agree more Genevieve – we love it! Genevieve is excited for the experience and can’t wait to hopefully see Outback Playboy one day in person.
“I live in Victoria so this ownership will be a long distance relationship! I am very excited to watch him learn and grow and maybe one day see him in person somewhere”.
Welcome to miRunners and congratulations Genevieve! We can’t wait to hear the name ‘Outback Playboy’ being cheered at the racetrack by his hundreds of owners. Outback Playboy is currently in work with trainer Robert Heathcote and is progressing well.
