Dusty plains to sandy seashores, dirt tracks to turf tracks, racing in Queensland has got it all. From the magic of the summer racing carnival that attracts identities from all around the globe, to racing at tracks a stone’s throw away from the beach, there is no place as picturesque to experience racehorse ownership.
Now thanks to the miRunners and Racing Queensland partnership, every Australian has the opportunity to jump onboard the ride as an owner with access to affordable premium bred racehorses.
Being part of the miRunners community means sharing an interest in more than just racing. It is about loving your racehorse as a member of the family. The love for our horses was showcased at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club earlier in November when Dusty Tycoon made her race debut.
There were over 200 owners in attendance to support their filly wearing the maroon, silver and white Racing Queensland and miRunners partnership silks. Thundering away to victory by 0.8L saw the excitement of being part of an ownership community celebrated as one, with the roar of the crowd electrifying.
“I’ve honestly never heard a roar like it…It was an extraordinary reception for the horse”. Radio TAB.

Northern Thunder a precocious filly offered by miRunners and Racing Queensland and trained by Eagle Farm trainer Chris Munce has obvious potential, ready to strike. Already at ‘majority sold’ now is your chance to come onboard the ownership ride with units available to purchase from $330 per unit + $15 per month.
Sired by Australia’s current champion stallion in Snitzel, big stage performers have continued to flow for Snitzel progeny. An honour roll that includes wins in the Golden Slipper, Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Sires Produce makes Snitzel the perfect two-year-old sire.
But it is not just juveniles where the stallion talents of Snitzel’s offspring shine. Redzel and Trapeze Artist are some of his most notable performers. Wins by these two horses alone in races such as The Everest, Golden Rose and T J Smith Stakes show the big stage capabilities of his progeny.
Stable representative Corey Munce confirms the impact that the champion stallion has had on Northern Thunder. “She is a beautiful Snitzel filly.” he said.
“We have had an opinion of her since the moment she set foot in the stables. She has had a couple of really nice jump outs over the 400m at Eagle Farm and she has shown us a bit of promise.”
Corey Munce discussing Northern Thunder following her trial in September
With an official trial already completed back in September by Rocky, ‘benefit’ was taken from the race track experience. Jockey Sean Cormack who rode Northern Thunder in her trial had more than positive feedback for all connections.
“She gave me a beautiful feel as she always does. I think the key thing is that she did everything right, she did everything positive.” said Cormack. “I was really happy with her.”
Following the trial Northern Thunder spent three weeks at Archer Park relaxing and reflecting on her first successful trial before heading back into pre-training.
Now, strengthened significantly and back into the stables of group one winning jockey and trainer Chris Munce the filly looks ready to storm into her race preparation.
“Northern Thunder has arrived back to our Eagle Farm stables. She has done exceptionally well. We will start her off nice and steady so that she is able to build up her fitness gradually. Her coat looks amazing.” a Munce Racing stable report said.
“We will progress on and obviously she won’t be galloping anytime soon. Probably another two or three weeks before she will have any sort of a gallop but she is getting good miles under her legs and she is coming up very nicely.”
