It was an action packed morning for all of the miRunners community as the Written Tycoon x Sponsored filly hit Doomben racecourse for her first official jump-out.
Hearing your horses name broadcasted for the first time across the track and nationally on television is one of the many thrills of being a race horse owner.
With naming suggestions for this Robert Heathcote trained filly submitted from all across Australia, her impressive trial was one to cheer her name about.
The miRunners ownership model aims to engage the wider community to get involved with naming their horses by allowing suggestions to be submitted by the public.
An exclusive miRunners owner privilege is that the final racing name is selected only by owners involved in each horse. By casting a vote from a list of shortlisted suggestions, control is placed in the owner’s hands to select the winning name that will be called as their horse storms to victory.
As heard across Australia today placing second in her trial, the winning name selected by the owners of the Written Tycoon x Sponsored filly is:
Dusty Tycoon is the second horse to have successfully undergone the naming process for the miRunners and Racing Queensland partnership.
The name was originally suggested by owner Tim Gately as a play on the filly’s colouring, with a “nod to the humble farmers carrying the weight of the nation on their backs.”
“Fighting the dust to feed this nation as the rust takes over their equipment, machinery and vehicles. The farmers, the cowboys and girls, the miners, the teachers, the doctors and nurses and everyone else in between. No matter how big or small, rich or poor, they are all Dusty Tycoons trying to survive” Tim said.
As an owner of four miRunners horses including Gaelic Puzzle, Bellarine Beauty, Hinchinbrook x Gaze colt, and the Exceed and Excel x Fate Rules filly, Tim said it was a ‘surprise’ that his name was selected from over 500 submissions.
“I always throw in plenty of suggestions and have been lucky to be shortlisted on three or four occasions now. But to have one of your suggestions selected by the owners is a thrill.”
Since the day Dusty Tycoon arrived at the Eagle Farm stables of her trainer Robert Heathcote, she has continued to exceed his expectations. With another chapter written in her book today following her first official barrier trial, this progressive filly has plenty of upside. After being posted four wide before rallying back to finish an impressive second place, now is the chance to join the premiership winning Heathcote stable.
In her first official barrier trial Dusty Tycoon continues to prove why she could be a potential Gold Coast Magic Millions contender. Watch the replay below:
