As our owners are such an important part of this miRunners experience, we decided to do a series on how our owners see themselves in horses and what thoroughbred ownership with miRunners means to them. We asked many of our loyal owners to give their response to the below quote:
“A horse is the projection of peoples’ dreams about themselves – strong, powerful, beautiful – and it has the capability of giving us escape from the mundane”
We have been overwhelmed by the responses so far – and first up we wanted to share the response from David and Carol Lynch, two loyal miRunners owners from Queensland. Here was their response to the above quote:
“To me, a horse projects power, agility and oozes aura, “look at me”, and at the same time, they just have this beauty about them. Horses love attention and mix with humans easily as they are family orientated like humans: living in herds, a team or a stable of them, they seem to like being in family groups.
To us humans or owners of horses, we can often see ourselves through them, relating to things we have encountered during our lives such as: times where we have struggled and had to call on our inner strength to get through a situation, the power to acquire ourselves well in a sporting competition, where we need to exert ourselves.
“At the same time we possess or all these characteristics we still remain beautiful inside and out. For instance, lions procure power and strength which you can see them use those qualities, but they are hardly as beautiful and elegant as a horse is on the outside”

For David and Carol, they have always felt a deep love for horses since before they can remember, but never thought they would get the opportunity to become owners.
“Carol and l fell in love with horses the moment we could walk, we just love the beauty of these animals, their nature and everything about them. I have often, as Carol has, daydreamed or dreamt in our sleep of drawing on our love of horses and living those dreams through our horses. I think sometimes as humans, where we may have fallen short in some areas of our lives, we live that disappointment through our animals, not just horses.”
For David, he finds that with things he didn’t quite succeed at the way he wanted to as a child, he transfers to his horses, wanting them to achieve what he didn’t.
“I used to be an excellent swimmer at school and tried and trained very hard to make the rep team and compete in competitions statewide. I always just fell short coming in 4th or 5th extra. I think we at times escape from that and transfer it to our horses always wishing and wanting them to win, where we couldn’t, so you can still feel that winning feeling through them.”
“Horses are a great way to escape from our everyday lives, where we are caught in a repetitive time warp: going to work, going home, going to sleep and repeat. Owning a horse and following their journey can let you, at least for a short time each day, escape and forget about the rut your life is in.”
David and Carol have a message to all people that might be sitting on the fence, wondering whether or not to take that leap from spectator to owner:
“To me you would have to be nuts not to give this miRunners syndication a go, for the above reasons alone. Then you have the affordable units to buy and monthly fees where you won’t find anywhere cheaper in the racing industry and then your set for the time of your life. Do yourself and your sanity a favour, get a unit or a few in miRunners horses, and let all your cares drift away out of your mundane life!”
What a beautiful story – thank you so much for sharing with us David and Carol. We love hearing these wonderful stories of ownership, so if you want to share yours, please email us at support@mirunners.com – we look forward to hearing from you!
