It was a competitive field for Not A Royal Doubt’s first trial of this preparation, as she was up against one of the Golden Slipper favourites in Loving Gaby. Not A Royal Doubt came out well in the barriers to settle at the end of the field, not being at all pushed or stressed by jockey Blake Shinn.
The aim of the trial was to just get her familiar with the track again, so she was ridden easy and quietly to the line. It’s exciting for all owners to see Not A Royal Doubt back on the track again, and we look forward to seeing her unleash a bit more in her next trial. Watch the trial replay below:
The trial field was extremely strong, with the winner Loving Gaby trained by Ciaron Maher & David Eustace having a Group 3 win already to her name. This promising filly also finished 6th in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes, and is one of the favourites for the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes on 23 March.
We were excited by the promise Not A Royal Doubt showed in her last preparation, winning her first trial against a competitive field. She went on to debut in the 2YO Clockwise Classic on Ballarat Cup Day, getting no luck in the run and finishing 8th. Trainers Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott believe the filly showed ability last time in, and are excited to have her back in work at Tulloch Lodge for her Autumn preparation. Watch her first trial below:
Almost a fairytale for Fundamentalist by sire Not A Single Doubt
It was almost a dream come true on Saturday when Fundamentalist, a 3YO filly by Not A Single Doubt, almost beat $1.60 favourite and the best 3YO in racing, the Autumn Sun in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas. She was only just beaten in the last stride at the line, the second time in two weeks she had been beaten on the line in a Group 1, suggesting a Group 1 victory is not far away. Despite this, the 3YO filly still boasts a more than impressive race record. From her 16 career starts, she has had 2 wins, 7 seconds and 3 thirds, and has exceeded $684,00 in career prize money so far as a 3YO. Watch the race replay below:
