It was another successful Saturday on the track for our miRunners sirelines and trainers, with the highlight of the weekend being 4YO mare Booker, who is by the mighty sire Written Tycoon, winning her first Group 1. This marked an impressive 7th Group 1 win for sire Written Tycoon, who is the sire of our beautiful Written Tycoon x Sponsored filly who is trained by QLD trainer Robert Heathcote.
Booker’s Group 1 win – another for sire Written Tycoon
After narrowly being beaten in the same race as a 3YO, Booker stormed home to victory on Saturday to win the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield Racecourse. She impressively burst through runners from a midfield position to win by three-quarters of a length from 3YO Encryption. Booker has now exceeded $800,000 in career prize money so far as a 4YO, she would be worth at least that much again when she retires, and the victory marked the 7th Group 1 win for sire Written Tycoon, who is producing impressive progeny results in both Australia and internationally. miRunners trainer Troy Corstens gets maiden win with Runbro
The perfect run by 4YO gelding Runbro allowed him to break his maiden status in Race 2 at Yarra Valley on Saturday for trainers Troy and Leon Corstens. Jockey Dan Stackhouse rode him to perfection, mustling up enough speed out of the gates to eventually sit behind the leader. He managed to get a gap in the straight as he hit the front, showing great speed to the line to beat race favourite No Shame. Another great victory for a stable on the rise, and one to definitely get involved in!
Not A Single Doubt – Qafila wins Group 2
3YO filly Qafila, who is by leading Australian sire Not A Single Doubt, returned to the winners stall in an impressive first-up performance on Saturday. Her victory in the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday was her first victory in 12 starts, but she did so in fine form. The young filly by Not A Single Doubt settled back in the field before making her run down the outside once she hit the straight, beating the favourite Angelic Ruler by half a length. QLD trainers Tony Gollan and Chris Munce with winners at Eagle Farm
Trainer Tony Gollan had a more quiet Saturday this weekend, with only 5 runners compared to his busy 15 runners last Saturday. Queensland’s leading trainer didn’t struggle to disappoint though, securing an impressive quinella with Perfect Witness and Teodora in Race 4 at Eagle Farm. Watch the replay below:
