Former Australian galloper Mission Tycoon, son of Australian sire Written Tycoon, scored an impressive victory in Sunday’s Group 1 Hong Kong Classic Cup at odds of $98. Following the win, the 4YO gelding has now emerged as a serious contender for the Hong Kong Derby held on March 17.
Jockey Derek Leung was aboard Mission Tycoon, and set a steady tempo before kicking clear at the top of the straight and boldly holding off the challenge of the odds-on favourite, Dark Dream. Australian sire Written Tycoon has an impressive racing record in Hong Kong, being represented by 12 winners from 16 runners. Watch the replay of the impressive victory below:

Get involved in the Written Tycoon filly trained by Robert Heathcote with miRunners
Incredible quality pedigree, action and upbringing is what comes to mind when speaking about the miRunners filly Written Tycoon X Sponsored, trained by Robert Heathcote. miRunners Head of Bloodstock Mick Malone knew we wanted the filly for team miRunners from moment he first lay eyes on her at Highgrove Stud.
Her pedigree is impressive, and the quality and substance she shows at such a young age is what impressed Mick the most.
“When you see a filly like this and see how much quality she has off a farm like Highgrove, it’s something you just need to be involved with. She just uses every part of her body from her nose right down to her tail, every part moves in perfect motion. Really happy with a filly like this, real substance, real bone and just a quality filly” said Mick.
“She definitely has precocity to her, and looks like she will run early as a 2 year-old. At the same time though, she also has that look to her that she will go on and be one of those nicer 3 year-olds and even 4 year-olds, she just has such a nice scope about her. That’s a lot of fun over potentially a long time.”
