The first of our 2YO’s have taken to the track for Autumn, with Gaelic Puzzle having a great debut trial at Royal Randwick on February 7. With Zoushack scheduled to trial at Flemington, owners are eagerly waiting for their thoroughbreds to hit the racecourse. Could you handle the excitement of watching your own horse at the track?
Not only are two of our 2YO’s trialing this week, all our other 2YO’s are in the stables or in pre-training. It could be a case of having every single miRunners horse in work at the one time. The outcome of being able to buy into affordable yet premium level yearlings may well be on the verge of playing out in exciting ways for them.
With so much potential amongst all of our thoroughbreds, we can’t wait to see which one will explode onto the racing scene first. View the full cycle of where each of our 2YO’s are below:

Zoushack
Zoushack has impressed leading trainer David Hayes and his team at Lindsay Park since day one. He was purchased at the 2018 Gold Coast Magic Millions for $275 000 (including GST) and was available to purchase for just $275 per ownership unit.
After two impressive trials within seven days, Zoushack made his race debut in the 1000m Victory Vein Plate on Everest Day at Royal Randwick in October 2018. Despite being squeezed from two outside runners out of the barriers and copping a knock on the home turn, jockey Kerrin McEvoy managed to get him going again and a promising final 200 metres meant he finished with a strong run to the line and an encouraging fourth place.
After the race McEvoy shared his thoughts of the race: “We got a bit rough and ready around the corner but to his credit he actually stayed on well up the straight. He’s got nice ability, going to improve for the run and we’ll have some fun with him for sure. He enjoyed the heavy ground as well.”
Following his run on Everest Day, Zoushack was put out for a spell to give him some time to mature and grow further. Zoushack has now gone back into pre-training with David Hayes and the Lindsay Park team, and is scheduled to trial at the end of this week. There’s no doubt that with the debut run already up his sleeve he will improve greatly, and owners and the miRunners team are excited to see what he brings to the races in 2019.

Shezawitness
Shezawitness was purchased at the 2018 Magic Millions Yearling Sales for $198 000 and is trained by Mick Price out of his Caulfield Stables. This made her available to purchase for just $198 per unit, with the filly selling out within three weeks.
After a very promising pre Christmas first preparation, unfortunately, Shezawitness fell ill with pharyngitis a week before she was meant to have her debut trial at Caulfield Racecourse. For 2YOs, this illness can be difficult to get over so the only option was to put her out for a long spell over the Summer.
She is now back in work with Mick Price, who is very happy with her progression and how she has developed following her time in the paddock, it may just of been a blessing. She is expected to have her first trial in the coming weeks, which has us all excited at the idea of getting this filly to the races this preparation. Check out the encouraging latest update from Mick Price below:
Not A Royal Doubt
Not A Royal Doubt was undoubtedly one of the best buys at the 2018 Magic Millions Yearling Sales. Purchased for $275 000 (including GST), this gorgeous filly was paired with leading trainer duo Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott. She has shown precocity and ability throughout her first preparation, and made her race debut in the Magic Millions Clockwise Classic in Ballarat towards the end of November 2018.
Following this race, she was put out for a spell in order to let her grow and mature further before Autumn comes around. She is due back into the Waterhouse & Bott stables in a week to kick of her next preparation. Watch her impressive last trial below:
