It has been a long wait for miRunners owners who have shares in the beautiful Rubick x Slainte filly trained by Bjorn Baker. Naming nominations for this filly kicked off back in October 2018, and we are pleased to announce the winning name today so she can commence on the track.
Following a public nomination period that saw over 700 names entered, the list was cut down to a top 24, with owners then voting for the winning submission.
We are now thrilled to announce the winning name which is… Gaelic Puzzle.
The winning name Gaelic Puzzle, that was submitted by owner Warren Adamson, moves further away from the generic merger of the sire and dam names, giving it individuality but still subtly relating back to the filly’s pedigree.
Warren’s son, got him and his wife involved in miRunners. He bought some of the initial units in the first miRunners horse Saganaki with a few mates. A year later, Warren and his wife were gifted a unit in the Rubick x Slainte filly by their son for their 40th wedding anniversary. With Warren and his wife both being New Zealanders, it made it even more fitting that the trainer of the filly is a fellow Kiwi in Bjorn Baker.
“It made it even more special as it was our 40th wedding anniversary, which is also known as the Ruby anniversary. I am so excited to be able to watch my horse race and listen to the race caller call out the name I picked. It’s so exciting and we are so happy. The fact that it is trained by fellow Kiwi Bjorn Baker makes it even better” said Warren.
As for the reason behind the choice of name, it was pretty self-explanatory for Warren.
“I just basically got the Gaelic from ‘Slainte’ meaning ‘cheers’ in Gaelic, and puzzle from the Rubick (cube). It was as easy as that”.
As for what Warren is going to do with the $290 Gift Card…
“Well I’m obviously going to buy a unit in another miRunners horse!”
Gaelic Puzzle joins Saganaki, Shezawitness, Not A Royal Doubt, Zoushack and Lyrical Girl as our thoroughbreds that have already been named.
Congratulations Warren! We can’t wait to hear the name Gaelic Puzzle at the race track soon.
Gaelic Puzzle is a 2016 filly being trained by NSW trainer Bjorn Baker and was bought for $275,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions. As with all miRunners horses, ownership was split into 1,000 units – each costing $275 (with an ongoing monthly fee of $15).
Although units in this gorgeous filly are now sold out, miRunners have four available thoroughbreds all trained by leading trainers still available in their stable. View our stable here.
