Over 120 miRunners owners gathered at the Gold Coast for the weekend of the Magic Millions to have an experience most had only ever dreamt of. Over 80% had travelled from interstate, as far away as Tasmania, Broome, Perth and Adelaide (as well from our magic VIC and NSW cities).
They travelled to experience two days of learning and fun at the Magic Millions Yearling Sales, followed by an exclusive and fun miRunners dinner and a wonderful social experience at the Magic Millions Race Day.
On Friday 11 January, miRunners owners attended the Auctions to see the two fillies purchased in the days previously – Written Tycoon x Sponsored and Snitzel x Typing fillies, but also to watch the whole auction process. Many owners were also able to meet leading trainers and to hear directly what we look for at auction.
Owners heard from Bloodstock Agent Mick Malone explain the qualities of each thoroughbred and why he chose them for miRunners.

Owners were then able to go inside the sales ring to watch the auction process and were lucky to witness miRunners third successful purchase and final horse of the sales, Lot 720: a gorgeous bay filly by Hinchinbrook out of Koonoomoo.
The uproar and cheers from miRunners owners when the auctioneer announced “sold to miRunners” was a first for Magic Millions Sales – to have that many people from one group on one day and to have so many people cheer at the same time was something special to hear and see.
The three events allowed for owners to meet each other and share the ownership experience together, which many claimed was a magical experience for them.
The weekend was what miRunners ownership is all about – the love of the animal as well as the love for the concept and the sense of belonging it brings to every individual involved. It was a special moment not only for miRunners and their owners but miRunners also made a bold statement at this years Magic Millions and that we did.
The miRunners Magic Millions dinner was held at the prestigious Marriott Hotel on Friday evening and was filled with great food, great thank you presentations, new friendships, impressive dance moves, and a whole lot of fun! Over 120 owners joined us for the dinner, with most travelling interstate specifically for the occasion. It was an unforgettable night for us and all owners, with new friendships and commitments being made to attend future events together and to come again the next year.

The miRunners team and owners then attended the Magic Millions Race Day on the Saturday, with our owners securing multiple tables in the shade just 100m from the winning post. Although most people had met for the first time the day before, many felt they had known each other for years and the joy of hearing the miRunners trainers win their races gave plenty of reasons to celebrate together..
miRunners trainer Bjorn Baker won two out of the ten races with a 2nd and 4th in other races, as well as a first place for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott and newest miRunners trainer Chris Munce each winning million dollar races.
