Rubick has already begun to live up to the hype of him being the highest-rated 2YO colt of his generation after one of his offspring secured his first win on Saturday.
The Darren Weir trained 2YO colt Yes Yes Yes, sired by the speed machine Rubick, stormed home over the final 200m to win impressively at Flemington in Race One on Saturday. Following the dominant ½ length win, Weir is now gearing him up for a spot in the Magic Millions 2YO Race on the Gold Coast in January. Ridden by Mark Zahra, Yes Yes Yes defeated Absolute Flirt by 1.5 lengths, with Favourite Things a further three-quarters of a length away in third.
“I had a beautiful run in behind them and then got a bit of room around the 500-metre mark so I eased him into it, he went through his gears and won very soft. Once he got a length on them he held them and he went pretty straight. He was very impressive.” Zahra said.
Although this marks Rubick’s first win by an offspring, there have been many minor placegetters amongst her 2YO raced progenies so far this campaign. In fact, two came on Saturday, with Waller trained colt Krameric finishing third in a Listed Race, and Kersley trained filly Rubic Rose losing by a nose on debut at Ascot. There’s no denying it’s an exciting time for Rubick offsprings – and there will be plenty more successes to come!
The beautiful miRunners filly Rubick x Slainte, trained by Bjorn Baker
Rubick’s offspring are now building a reputation with trainers showing plenty of explosive speed and an exciting ability to show up early just as their father did.
This is exciting news for owners in Rubick x Slainte. Bjorn Baker has had his eye on the Rubick progeny from the very beginning, is excited by what he has seen by Rubick x Slainte and is looking forward to having her back with him in training before Christmas.
Rubick X Slainte has already shown similar ability to father Rubick, putting a 3YO to bed in her first jumpout a few weeks back. Watch her impressive performance out of the barriers below:
A nice sized filly with a real sprinting style, good girth and a nice hind quarter with a huge over stride, Rubick X Slainte is without any doubt a very athletic filly. Trainer Bjorn Baker has very high hopes of her, and the owners can expect this filly to show up reasonably early.
Undoubtedly, the success will now keep coming for the sons and daughters of Rubick and if Yes Yes Yes wins the Magic Millions next month their price tag will escalate rapidly.
