Troy’s first involvement with a major winner was Triple Group One winner Helenus. He purchased him as a yearling and enjoyed success with his father Leon training him to the 2002 Caulfield Guineas and VRC Derby.
Individually, his first Group One winner was with Awesome Rock in the 2016 VRC Mackinnon Stakes. An outsider in the field at $18, Awesome Rock sat in second position for majority of the race before exploding down the straight and winning the race by nearly a length. More recently, Corstens secured his second Group One winner in Montoya’s Secret at Rosehill Gardens in early 2017. More recently, trainer Troy Corstens has been continually impressed with her and is excited with the way she has developed, in particular with her attitude towards her work. Corstens is excited to be given the opportunity to train the Not A Single Doubt X Countess Dehere filly and sees a lot of potential in her future as a race horse.
“She has both type and pedigree, and that’s unusual and special. The best thing about this filly, and it’s something that I always look for in a filly, is that she looks like a colt. She’s got the big strong shoulders, really good deep girth. She’s very good in front and clean in the legs so that should help her when we get up and put the pressure on. She’s just a really good strong filly with a great attitude” said Troy.
The latest update sent through on the miRunners Geelong Community Thoroughbred, Not A Single Doubt X Countess Dehere, shows her settling into the Corstens stable nicely.
