It has been an exciting day for owners of miRunners’ horse with the name of the Your Song X Sheeznodoubt filly announced just in time for her scheduled trial tomorrow, Tuesday 4th December.
Following a public nomination period that saw over 700 names entered, the list was cut down to a top 24, with owners then voting for the winning submission.
We are now thrilled to announce the winning name… which is  Lyrical Girl.
The winning name Lyrical Girl, whose name was submitted by Dianne Lee, moves away from the generic and more obvious merger of the sire and dam names, giving it individuality but still subtly relating the name back to the filly’s impressive pedigree.
Dianne Lee first bought into miRunners late last year, as she thought it was the perfect gift for her husband Barry.
“I saw miRunners on Facebook in November last year. An ad came up to purchase the Priority Access Voucher for Mick Price to join in early on the buyer’s journey and auction,  so I popped it in Barry’s stocking for Christmas. We ended up purchasing our unit in Shezawitness trained by Mick Price in January after watching the live stream from the Magic Millions. We knew the lot numbers and knew exactly when Shezawitness was purchased and we have followed it all the way through.
“It wasn’t long after that we bought into Not A Royal Doubt and Zoushack, so we now have three horses with miRunners and are going to visit the Geelong horse this Saturday to maybe make it our fourth purchase.
“We have the three ownership certificates of our horses surrounding a photo of Black Caviar on our mantelpiece at home and I keep saying to Barry that it looks uneven. I have been telling Barry that we need to make it four for a while now!
Dianne and Barry have loved their miRunners experience so far, and have been lucky enough to attend a few owners events including the Shezawitness jump out at Caulfield and the debut of Not A Royal Doubt in Ballarat a few weeks ago.

“We absolutely love miRunners. We are both retired and Barry was lucky enough to go and visit the Mick Price horse, Shezawitness, at a jump out at Caulfield a few months ago and he absolutely loved that morning.
“We have had a great year with miRunners and are just having a ball. We preach it to everybody, the kids think it is great and we just absolutely love it. I think more than anything, it has given us both a very good interest together which is just lovely.
“We met lovely co-owners at the races and ended up going out for dinner with a few which was just lovely. What we have got out of this is just incredible – that’s all I have to say!”
Dianne has previously entered names for each name of the three horses she has a unit in, but this is the first time her name choice was selected.
“In the other naming competitions I was involved in, I spent ages putting names together and didn’t get anywhere. I remember somebody put in a comment saying you don’t have to mix the sire and the dam, and I thought oh that’s true – maybe we should drift away from that. My pick for Zoushack was Zooshack, so I felt like I was close there! I just looked at the Your Song sire and Lyrical Girl came to me and I just popped it into the comments and there you go!”
As for what Dianne is going to do with the $290 gift card…
“I’m obviously going to buy into Lyrical Girl, and she is going to be in my name as all the others are in Barry’s name! Now, this one is going to be mine and there is going to be a real competition between us!”
Lyrical Girl is a 2016 filly being trained by premier Queensland trainer Tony Gollan and was bought for $275,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions. As with all miRunners horses, ownership was split into 1,000 units – each costing $275 (with an ongoing monthly fee of $15).
