In another first for miRunners, owners of the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trainer miRunners filly Not A Royal Doubt were delighted to learn their filly has accepted for the Magic Millions Clockwise Classic to be held on Ballarat Cup Day this Saturday 24 November.
This is an incredible opportunity for the two-year-old filly, who is currently training out of the Waterhouse & Bott stables in Flemington. On her race debut, she will contest a ten horse field in attempt to increase her chance of qualification into the famous Magic Millions two-year-old race held on the Gold Coast in January.
RECENT NEWS: Not A Royal Doubt outclasses field in trial win
Senior jockey Stephen Baster, who is a frequent metropolitan rider for the Waterhouse Stable, is taking the ride on Not A Royal Doubt. He recently had success with the Waterhouse and Bott trained Runaway, who won the Geelong Cup impressively on 24 October as an outsider in the field at odds of $16 and also on the 2YO Unite and Conquer when winning the Maribyrnong Trial on the 8 October at Flemington.
In the Group One Aquis Toorak Handicap held at Caulfield on 13 October, Baster rode the Waterhouse & Bott trained 4YO Siege of Quebec, and finished third behind favourite Land of Plenty and Hartnell. Baster boasts fourteen Group One wins over his twenty-five-year career and has won in excess of $56 million in prize money since early 2000.
To have such a senior jockey on board a young 2YO having their race debut is of vital importance, and his experience is one of the reasons why Baster has been chosen to ride Not A Royal Doubt this Saturday. Waterhouse and Bott also have a runner in the Magic Millions 3&4YO Classic on Ballarat Cup Day on Saturday, Terminology. The 3YO filly will also be ridden by jockey Stephen Baster.
Baster has also had great success with miRunners trainer Troy Corstens, who trains our Geelong Community Thoroughbred Not A Single Doubt X Countess Dehere. He is the frequent rider of 6YO gelding Runson, trained by Troy and Leon Corstens. Baster won two handicaps comfortably aboard Runson before riding him in the Group Two TAB Stakes at Flemington on 3 November, finishing an impressive third.

Looking ahead, a place in this race would secure a coveted spot in the January Magic Millions 2YO race on Saturday 12 January 2019. To qualify for this race, each entrant must be a graduate of the Magic Millions Sales and have a significant prize purse to their name at this early age. On average, to gain entry to this race, the 2YO needs to have secured more than $40,000 in prize money from their race outings.
The Magic Millions 2YO Classic is one of the highlights of the Gold Coast Racing series and is seen as an indicator of just which 2YO will be racing in the Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond. Capitalist is a great example of this, winning both the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and the Slipper in 2016.
