Lining up for a 10 am start, Not A Royal Doubt looked calm and strong as she made her way to the gates with top jockey Tim Clark on board. She handled her first trial really well, saddling up nicely and showing good speed straight out of the gate.
She was prominent from the start settling second in the field, before making her move midway through the trial to lead and eventually kick away to win in good fashion.
A group of miRunners owners were cheering from the Old Stand at Royal Randwick as they watched Not A Royal Doubt win her very first trial, showing great promise for her future.
Post-trial, owners were given the opportunity to meet their young filly and co-trainer Adrian Bott over at the famous Tulloch Lodge.
Following the trial, Bott said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better point to kick off. She seemed to do everything right from the outset today. She jumped well and seemed to show really good early speed, which for us and our stable, for our two-year-olds in particular, we find that their greatest asset”.
“Just late when she was able to pull away from the other competitors, we saw she had the strength and acceleration to really quicken”.

With all of these being good signs in a young two-year-old, it will all depend on how Not A Royal Doubt pulls up in the next few days before making any decisions on the future. However, providing she pulls up well and free of soreness, Bott is keen to see her trial again this preparation.
“Early indications is that we will probably trial again off the back of that and look for natural improvement. We want to make sure that when we go to the races she’s bombproof.”
“Although today was a good stepping stone and a step in the right direction, we aren’t there entirely. We aren’t closing the door on a race start just yet but we will see how she recovers post-trial, make sure she eats up well and has no lingering issues such as shin soreness.”
