With the sun shining and Spring in fine form, Tuesday morning saw Zoushack’s inaugural barrier trial at Rosehill Racecourse.
Lining up for a mid morning start Zoushack looked fit and strong making for a very good first trial away from home coming in 4th. He handled the situation really well, paraded calmly, saddled up nicely and had great temperament – all in all making a top day.

Tim Nixon, owner in Saganaki and Zoushack, was there on the day and expressed that he loved the miRunners model.
“It’s cheap and affordable. You get weekly updates and you are treated like any other horse owner. It’s a good opportunity to get involved.”
“I got 2 shares in Saganaki as a Christmas present, I’ve been to all the open dates. I’ve been to the farm, I went to a race meeting in Port Macquarie, I met the jockey, I watched Saganaki race, it’s been a good experience.”
Co-owners John Carlon & John Encarana, were in attendance at the Western Sydney trial ,have been mates for over 40 years and are now owners in both Zoushack and Not A Royal Doubt.
“It’s great to be in a horse that we’ve never been able to afford” said Carlon.
In between some gentle banter between the two, Encarana mentioned: “The key was the affordability. We’re in it for the fun of it and today we’re sitting in the Members Stand at Rosehill. We would never have been able to do that otherwise.”
“The updates we receive are excellent. We don’t have to chase [miRunners]. You come to us with information.”
Zoushack is due to trial again this coming Monday at Warwick Farm and providing he pulls up well and free of shin soreness, will be racing at Randwick on October 20.
