AFL footballer Toby Greene plays for the GWS Giants, has won the Kevin Sheedy Medal and was selected in the All-Australian team in 2016. He is also a racing enthusiast who owns a unit in the Rubick x Slainte filly, trained by Bjorn Baker and based in Western Sydney.
My name’s Toby Greene. I got drafted up to GWS when I was 18 and this is my seventh year. It’s been a really good ride so far. We’re one of the better sides now and I’m loving life in Western Sydney.
Something my close mates know about me is how much I love racing. I’ve been around racing a fair while. A lot of my mates are also right into it.
And now I own two horses: one with miRunners and another one with a few friends.
Fittingly, my unit with miRunners is in the Rubick x Slainte filly. This allows me to continue my connection with Western Sydney as she is based at Warwick Farm and trained by Bjorn Baker – one of Australia’s best trainers.
RECENT NEWS: What ownership in Rubick X Slainte looks like
It’s good fun to spend a day at the races with your friends. It’s one of the best days on the calendar so it’s something that a lot of people in Australia really enjoy – and it’s even better when you spend it with mates.
This is one of the biggest advantages of owning with miRunners: the low price point allows you to own with all your mates, making the experience even better and giving you something shared to take pride in.
Ownership with miRunners is very easy to get into and easy to keep track of. For people who don’t want to go all out on the price, or if the budget is a barrier – miRunners allows you to own a premium thoroughbred worth thousands of dollars – for just a couple of hundred.

It’s a great idea and a fun initiative, all the better because it’s easy to keep track of and it doesn’t require a large risk.
If you and a few mates wanted to get together and do something, miRunners is what I would recommend. You get to develop your love of racing without a huge commitment, and you can take your mates along for the ride too.
My other horse had its first win the other day and being able to share it with a couple of mates was huge thrill and a life highlight. I’m excited to replicate that feeling with miRunners and even more co-owners!
