miRunners broke onto the racing scene in 2017 when they offered something the industry had never seen before: affordable racehorse ownership.
With a model that matches premium thoroughbred with premium trainers – miRunners makes the full ownership experience accessible to everyone by splitting the cost into 1,000 units.
So instead of having to spend thousands of dollars every month, miRunners owners only needs to pay the initial purchase price ($165-275) and then a monthly fee of just $15. This fee covers everything: training, transport, food, admin, management, insurance, vet fees, legal fees, regular race nominations, the lot.
A lot has happened since miRunners purchased their first horse just 18 months ago. Here’s an update on each of our horses and where they are on their journey.
Saganaki
The first miRunners horse was purchased at the 2017 Gold Coast Magic Millions for $165,000.
Under the title of Real Saga x Cubism, the colt was matched with trainer Kris Lees in Newcastle before being named Saganaki.
Like all miRunners horses, the Australian public put in their nominations for his name before the owners had a final vote.
The Australian public also designed and voted for Saganaki’s racing colours: silks that were adopted for all miRunners horses going forward.

With some good success from his siblings, excitement grew as all 1,000 units in Saganaki sold out the day before his first trial.
Now a gelding, Saganaki had his first start in May 2018, finishing strongly to take third.
That was followed by an impressive second place finish and then a sixth-placed finish in his final run of the season. To take 2 places from 3 starts at a distance of 1400m in his first full prep is something few 2-year-olds can claim.
Spelling to the end of the month, Saganaki is filling into his frame, recording his heaviest weight ever. It looks like the spring could see him realise his first win.
Shezawitness
The second miRunners horse was purchased for $198,000 at the 2018 Gold Coast Magic Millions and was instantly matched with trainer Mick Price in Caulfield.
Under the title of Star Witness x Peahen, the filly sold out her 1,000 units in little over a month.
Once sold out, the Australian public submitted nominations her for name and an owners vote chose Shezawitness as the yearling’s official racing name.
Shezawitness is currently in Melbourne, working with Mick Price who has announced her as a potential 2YO runner. She is in pre-training and is responding to the calls for a full race prep this season.
Not A Royal Doubt
The next horse to be purchased by miRunners was Not A Royal Doubt: bought for $275,000 at the 2018 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
Paired-up with the famous Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stables – and with pedigree on her side, the filly sold out in June.
With nominations for her name again coming from the Australian public, Not a Royal Doubt was the next filly to be publicly named.
As the fine filly of this crop, Not a Royal Doubt is in a long pre-training to build form to carry her through a potential spring debut.
Zoushack
Bought for $275,000 at the 2018 Gold Coast Magic Millions, the Zoustar x Shack colt was the fourth miRunners horse.
It was a touch of fortune as on the Saturday following the purchase, the horse’s stock went up as another Zoustar filly won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
Matched with David Hayes in Victoria, the young colt’s expectations continued to rise as Zoustar progeny continued to win and win and win.
It wasn’t long until the racing world realised they could purchase into a Zoustar colt for a minimum price and the colt sold out in June.
As the next colt to be named by the public, Zoushack saw a tribute to his lineage emerge as the most popular name by a significant margin. It is exciting to present another Zou into the racing world.
David Hayes with Tom Dabering at Lindsay Park have brought this young colt into the stables for an early start after just a short spell pre-Spring. With canters around the corner, we are waiting to see just how far this early prep can take him.
Your Song x Sheeznodoubt (NOW AVAILABLE)
The fifth miRunners horse was a Your Song x Sheeznodoubt filly purchase for $275,000 at the 2018 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
Matched with Queensland’s undisputed champion trainer, Tony Gollan, it was an exciting match-up as Tony had already had success with horses in the same bloodline.

Rubick x Slainte (NOW AVAILABLE)
The very athletic Rubick x Slainte filly became the sixth miRunners horse when she was purchased for $275,000 at the 2018 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
Matched with the personable and successful Bjorn Baker in Western Sydney, the yearling took very quickly to break-in and training. She then completed her orientation prep at Warwick Farm before taking a well earned spell.
Returning to the stables for her first full prep unfortunately saw her pick up a virus that pushed her into the paddock for a 6 week recovery. The vet was surprised with just how well she responded to treatment and has given her a clean bill of health in record time.
