It has been a historic day for the owners in the second miRunners horse with the Australian public naming the horse trained by Mick Price.
Following a public nomination period that saw over 1,000 names entered, the list was whittled down to a top 40 with owners then voting for the winning submission.

It can now be revealed that the name is Shezawitness (pronounced She’s A Witness). The name is a fitting tribute to Star Witness, the horse’s sire.
Shezawitness is a 2016 filly being trained by Mick Price – one of Australia’s best trainers – which was bought for $198,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions. As with all miRunners horses, ownership was then split into 1,000 units, each costing $198 plus a $15 monthly training and management fee.
With Shezawitness sold out, you can still get into affordable ownership by choosing one of our four current horses: trained by Gai Waterhouse / Adrian Bott, David Hayes, Tony Gollan and Bjorn Baker.

The owner who picked the winning name was Susan Mayfield. Susan first heard of miRunners at a bus stop when she heard a couple of guys talking about miRunners while she was waiting for her ride home.
Having been an avid rider in her teen years with pony club and competing in gymkhana, Susan found miRunners the perfect way to get back into the industry. She now owns units in four horses and says she’ll use her prize money to purchase into her fifth: Your Song x Sheeznodoubt trained by Tony Gollan.
“miRunners was ideal for me because I love being back involved in horses yet I knew nothing about the racing aspect of the horse industry before signing-up with miRunners,” explained Susan.

“miRunners is teaching me [and the public] the ins and outs of training and shining light on everything we didn’t know about the industry. I’m learning all this background about what makes a horse a racehorse and all the work that goes into to get the horse ready for race day.”
Susan was thrilled when she was told she had won the naming competition and explained the story behind the name.
“I knew that most of the owners wanted a name that reflected the sire and one of my friends said I needed a name with four syllables as it will have a nice ring to it as they are calling her home,” said Susan.
“It was driving me crazy! I had about 20 potential names written down before submissions opened and it would literally keep me awake at night with horse names popping into my head driving me nuts.
“Shezawitness was very simple. There’s a lot of Witness horses running around and a lot of Witness names. But she’s our witness and I turned that into Shezawitness.
“I’m so thrilled, I really am. We all want a name we like and I really like Shezawitness, although the guy who suggested Ushooda Bortashare is not going to be happy with me!”
