Australia could have an international winner in 2018 before Winx even boards a plane as Bjorn Baker and David Hayes tackle the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint in the early hours of Sunday morning – 1am AEDT (6:05pm local time on Saturday).
Australian horses have a solid recent record in the Al Quoz Sprint, after Buffering claimed the race in 2016 and Ortensia saluted in 2012.
The Bjorn Baker trained Music Magnate flew out for this Saturday’s Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai.
Baker said he couldn’t be happier that the Group 1 winner was enjoying a trouble-free run-up to the race.
The 2016 Doomben 10,000 winner flew to Dubai on March 20 to give him plenty of time to acclimatise before the $1.3M sprint.
The Al Quoz Sprint is held at Meydan Racecourse, is one of the highlights of the United Arab Emirates season and will be part of the 23rd running of the Dubai World Cup on the world’s richest day of racing.
Music Magnate joins the David Hayes trained Faatinah in the race.

Hayes’ co-trainer Ben Hayes said “He looks well. We were really pleased before we traveled him over and his work was excellent back home.
“From what I’ve seen, he’s been working the same over here. He’s a horse with a fantastic fresh record.”
