FINAL UNITS: Not A Royal Doubt close to selling out
Here’s the main reasons why NNot A Royal Doubt – to be trained by Australian Racing Hall of Famer, Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott – was one of the best buys of 2018.
Not A Single Doubt’s success as a sire
Not A Single Doubt’s progeny have it all: class, precocity and versatility. This, as well as results, is why Not A Single Doubt is a mainstay in Australia’s top 10 sires and why his 33 lots at the 2018 Magic Millions Sale recorded an average sale price of $265,000 with a top price of $700,000.
Proving to be one of Australia’s most reliable sources of early runners, one in five of his runners win at two, an age which supplies a third of his stakes winners.

Full of potential and signs point to an early runner
Not A Royal Doubt is a very assertive filly. In the paddock when other fillies try and sneak some of her feed they certainly don’t try again. Whilst she is an assertive young lady, she’s a little bit quieter and understated than the other fillies in the paddock which is a great indicator of her maturity and potential as an early runner.
She has a powerful and well developed hind-quarter and has a chest that goes for days which again lean towards an early get up and run type of filly. Shannon Betts, Owner and Founder of Emeran Park, is very pleased with how she is progressing.
She ticks all the boxes for a two year old, she’s got a really nice reach and swing to her walk, she is a beautiful mover and she was handled at the Magic Millions sales without any problems at all. Have a look at one of the owners updates below to see her handling the starting gates.
Royal Academy’s Daughters
What we also like about this filly is that the mother is by Royal Academy who was retired to stud in 1991 and sired 1,465 mares.
Renown for his win at the 1990 Breeders’ Cup Mile in which famed British jockey Lester Piggott came out of retirement to ride the colt to victory, Royal Academy will be remembered in history thanks to his daughter, Black Caviar, who was unbeaten in twenty-five races.
His daughter Royal Pageant was a winner at 1450m, blood-sister to Academy Dancer and Royal Snip and Not A Royal Doubt is her eighth foal. Royal Pageant is a dam of five foals to race, with two winners.
Perfect match with trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott
There is absolutely no doubt that Not A Royal Doubt and Gai Waterhouse are going to get on like a house on fire. Gai is known for her ability to develop early two-year-olds.
“Our filly took my attention the moment I saw her, she’s extremely fluid when she walks, she has a very feminine face and she’s just got the most lovely disposition,” explained Gai.
Adrian Bott also remarks on the filly’s well developed build.
“What stood out most when first assessing this filly was just how athletic she is: she’s very light on her feet and moves effortlessly across the ground. She’s very forward and very precocious which is a very important quality in our eyes.”
