5: Mighty Boss in the Caulfield Guineas
Mick Price’s “laid-back, blonde-haired surfer boy” produced one of the biggest boilovers in Caulfield Guineas history, when $101 outsider Mighty Boss went from first emergency to future stallion. He defeated the impressive trio of Royal Symphony, Catchy and Kementari with the flashy-looking colt only gained a start in the $2 million Guineas when Summer Passage was scratched.

4: Lankan Rupee in the TJ Smith Stakes
Lankan Rupee confirmed his ranking as Australia’s best sprinters with an all-the-way win in the $2.5 million Group One TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick. The result was never in doubt as Lankan Rupee extended brilliantly from the 400m after jockey Craig Newitt decided to make all the running.
;3: Extreme Choice in the Blue Diamond
Drawing badly with both rides in the $1.5 million Blue Diamond Stakes did not hinder Mick Price as he managed to quinella Victoria’s most important two-year race with Extreme Choice being successful and stablemate Flying Artie finishing a brave second.
2: Tarzino in the VRC Derby
The $1.5 million Victoria Derby had been a frustrating race for Caulfield trainer Mick Price but that was all forgotten on Saturday as the trainer finally went home a winner when Tarzino outstayed his rivals to take out the 2500m group 1 classic.

1: Flying Artie in the Coolmore Stud Stakes
After running second in the Blue Diamond Stakes and the Golden Slipper, Flying Artie finally got his first of Group 1 glory as he took home the $500,000 Coolmore Stud Stakes. He drew barrier one and started at $10 against Extreme Choice, Star Turn, Russian Revolution and Astern but sprinted powerfully in the last 250m to beat Astern by 1 ¼ lengths.
